Amazing Grace

Some believe that "Christian" is another word for "preachy." If that was the case, John Newton could not have been a Christian. He was a slave trader and was responsible for much pain and sorrow. One day he was literally hit in the head and in a light saw what the entire faith really meant: grace. Then he wrote Amazing Grace.

That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I′m found

Grâce étonnante

Certains pensent que "chrétien" est un autre mot pour "prêcheur". Si tel était le cas, John Newton n'aurait pas pu être chrétien. Il était un négrier et était responsable de beaucoup de douleur et de tristesse. Un jour, il a littéralement reçu un coup à la tête et dans un éclair a vu ce que la foi signifiait vraiment : la grâce. Puis il a écrit Grâce étonnante.
Grâce étonnante, combien ton son est doux
Celui qui a sauvé une malheureuse comme moi
J'étais autrefois perdue, mais maintenant je suis retrouvée
J'étais aveugle, mais maintenant je vois
C'est la grâce qui a appris à mon cœur à craindre
Et la grâce qui a apaisé mes peurs
Combien cette grâce m'a semblé précieuse
L'heure où j'ai cru pour la première fois
