I took her for a ride through town, just to show her off
The mule made quite an impression, wherever we went
I was offered four million for her, but I turned it down

I said goodbye to the town, and headed back home

I turned the mule out to pasture, and this is what happened
A venomous snake bit my mule
The venom paralyzed her, and she couldn't even move
She only lasted a few hours, before she died
And so, my black mule is gone, and I'm heartbroken
