Yo soy la voz, que clama en el desierto,
Asi se decía de este profeta de los nuevos tiempos .
Juan el Bautista yo soy.
Soy precursor del Nuevo Testamento .
Mi madre Isabel, mi Padre Sacarías,
Viejos y sin hijos muy pronto morirían .
Juan el Bautista nació,el último gran profeta del Viejo Testamento .
Mi padre entró al lugar sagrado,
El ángel le anunció que un hijo le seria dado.
Juan el Bautista creció y vivió en el desierto como un ermitaño.
Por no creer lo que el ángel dijo,
Mudo se quedó y habló al nombrar a su hijo.
Juan el Bautista habló y bautizó para arepentimiento.
Este es el Cordero de Dios sin manchas y sin defectos
Que quita el pecado del mundo y nos trae nuevos tiempos .

The Ballad of John the Baptist

I am the voice that cries in the wilderness,
Thus spoke this prophet of the new age.
John the Baptist is my name.
I am the forerunner of the New Testament.
My mother Elizabeth, my father Zechariah,
They were old and childless, and soon they would die.
John the Baptist was born, the last great prophet of the Old Testament.
My father entered the holy place,
An angel announced to him that a son would be given to him.
John the Baptist grew up and lived in the desert as a hermit.
Because he did not believe what the angel said,
He was struck dumb and spoke only to name his son.
John the Baptist preached and baptized for repentance.
This is the Lamb of God, without blemish or defect,
Who takes away the sin of the world and brings us new times.
