Benché sia notte, conoscerò
Dov'è la fonte da cui scaturisce
Quella sorgente pura e luminosa
Che ci conduce alla fede.
Il suo splendore non si oscura mai
Ed è sorgente d′ogni luce,
Le sue correnti irrigano i cieli
Ed a quest'acqua si sazia ogni vivente.
Giace nascosta questa eterna fonte
E chiama ogni creatura,
Alla sorgente anela il mio cuore
Che in questo pane di vita io contemplo.

Even in the Night

EVEN IN THE NIGHT

Even in the night, I shall know
Where lies the source from which flows
That spring so pure and so aglow
That leads us to faith.
Its splendor never grows dim
And it is the fount of every light,
Its currents water the skies
And every living thing drinks of this water.
Hidden lies this eternal source
And all creation calls
My heart yearns for the spring
That I contemplate in this bread of life.
