Memories of a Defeated Man, Pt. 2

I was born in the desert's heat,
Everything seemingly calm, everything still.
Sand covers the concrete,
I can't walk, with my hands I search for the wind.
A cradle made of wood,
I struggle to sleep, a thought keeps me awake.
Mom holds me in her arms, away from the dust,
But as I touch the ground, I understand I must run.
Small but fast steps, I flee from ferocious nightmares.
Running, I miss the games,
I encounter snakes, camels with Bedouins.
I try at least to keep my brothers closer,
In that house, what a mess.
I run uphill, over the dunes,
Scorpions on my clothes, 'fuck my fears.'
From here I see the roads, I cannot stop,
Those small steps are now strides.
But adolescence is a storm,
The sand becomes asphalt,
I learn to suffocate anger within tears.
Those who run away are just cowards here,
But I'm not running away, I'm searching.
I keep running, surpassing even my friends,
Running amidst buses, in traffic, among all the buildings.
I distance myself with every step, gaze downcast and eyes grey,
Who do we need to be to be happy?
But at twenty in the jungle, I speed through the forest,
You can't stop me, I break branches with my head.
My heart is harder, for sure, than bark,
I'm not a man, I'm a weapon, I am an arrow.
And I forget affections, I run with gritted teeth,
Because I'm too afraid that life won't wait for me.
What will we do then, when we are alone and old?
I remain the most beautiful of all in a room without mirrors.
Escapes from panthers, owls, and full moons,
This is where beasts eat your prayers.
I turn one last time, I see my brother fall,
Just one more step and I'm immersed in the snow.
But you knew it was true,
That the biggest dreams are made of glass.
I took a breath,
And decided I wouldn't look back anymore.
For the first time, I don't know how to get up,
No one can find me or throw me a rope.
The ice that blocks me, my heart like limbs,
It won't let me write anymore, it will close my mouth.
It takes little, a snap of the fingers,
Outside the frost, but inside I burst with life.
My end is not yet this,
It means I run, I run twice as fast as before.
And I'm outside alone, naked in the blizzard,
Survivor of everything, wolf of Siberia.
I walked a long way, to the foot of this mountain,
I only thought: "Now I can't fail."
God looks at me and only says: "Where are you going?"
The soles of my Nikes are too slippery,
As I approach the sun I shout loudly: "Now you'll see."
I won't be like the snow because I will never fall,
27, I'm at the top, I smile at the achievement.
Facing a descent, that leads me to another climb,
From up here I learn the meaning of this life.
My goal is a search that is not finished,
A blizzard is approaching, it's true,
But it seems like a friend, the sunset behind the frost.
I put everything into a rhyme,
And I go to conquer my life,
Let's see who gets there first.
