Looking back God I'm grateful for all the grace I've been given
While chasing after the wind, I've made a range of vain decisions
Imitated the wicked, been dismayed, discontent
And the liquor never fixed these issues that's why I had to sober up

For all intents and purpose don't misinterpret these verses that I'm spittin
This is not a Church Sermon, just my personal convictions
Paul urged me not to get drunk, but be filled with the spirit
And I'm a doer of the Word, not just merely a hearer
Now if I'm just being honest, the hardest part in all this
Was tryna figure out, how Ima tell all my friends
Should I skip out on all the parties, would my soberness be a downer?
Once they find out I've put the bottle down, will they still come around me?
Will they commend me or condemn me? Assist me, or resent me?
Encourage or discourage and try to tempt me?
Will I become the judgmental typical hypocritical Christian?
Pointing fingers, like I didn't just overcome the addiction
Or will I be conflicted? They split the difference
Half got my back in the trenches, the other fake listen, showing fake interest, fixing me Mixed drinks
That's why this isn't, open to no opinions
I'm Spirit living, had to sober up

Alcool fort sec, cul sec sans chasseur, ma belle
Je pensais que c'était cool de dire; je peux fonctionner complètement ivre

Ou juste pour perdre ma journée, je n'avais pas besoin d'une occasion spéciale

Je voulais voir si mon efficacité allait augmenter ou diminuer
Dans l'espoir que si besoin, je pourrais prendre un verre discrètement
Aveuglément dans le déni, la douleur était bien présente
Ignorant mes convictions, l'alcool était ma façon de l'oublier
Je prétendais être chrétien
Mais ma façon de vivre contredisait ce que j'avais appris dans les pages des Écritures
Avec le recul, Dieu merci pour toute la grâce que j'ai reçue
En courant après le vent, j'ai pris une série de décisions vaines
J'ai imité les méchants, j'ai été consterné, mécontent
Et l'alcool n'a jamais réglé ces problèmes, c'est pourquoi j'ai dû dégriser

À toutes fins utiles, n'interprétez pas mal ces vers que je crache, ma belle
Ce n'est pas un sermon d'église, juste mes convictions personnelles
Paul m'a exhorté à ne pas m'enivrer, mais à être rempli de l'Esprit
Et je suis un pratiquant de la Parole, pas seulement un auditeur
Maintenant, pour être honnête, le plus dur dans tout ça
C'était d'essayer de trouver comment j'allais le dire à tous mes amis
Devrais-je éviter toutes les fêtes, ma sobriété serait-elle un frein?
Une fois qu'ils auront découvert que j'ai posé la bouteille, viendront-ils encore me voir?
Vont-ils me féliciter ou me condamner? M'aider ou m'en vouloir?
M'encourager ou me décourager et essayer de me tenter?
Vais-je devenir le chrétien typique, hypocrite et moralisateur?
Montrant du doigt, comme si je n'avais pas juste surmonté l'addiction
Ou serais-je en conflit? Ils se diviseront
La moitié me soutiendra dans les tranchées, l'autre fera semblant d'écouter, feignant de l'intérêt, me préparant des cocktails
