In the evening restaurants
In the Parisian booths
In the cheap electric paradise
I break my hands all night long
From rage and torment
And I plaintively sing something to people

Jazz bands clang and buzz
And evil monkeys
Bare their disfigured mouths at me
And I, crooked and drunk,
Call them to the oceans
And I sprinkle flowers in their champagne

And when morning comes, I walk along the sleepy boulevard
Where even children run away from me in fright
