Шёл парнишка по опушке,
Сам не знал, куда.
По пути поймал лягушку
Около пруда.
Та, закрыв глаза,

"Отпусти меня
На свободу, друг."
Требуй, что тебе надо,
Я помочь буду рада,
И в награду исполню
Три желания твоих.
Три желанья мучат парня,
Выбрать он не мог.
И на первый случай выбрал
Золота мешок.
Он теперь богат,
Но судьбе не рад:
Деньги его жизнь
Превратили в ад.
Требуй, что тебе надо,
Я помочь буду рада,
И в награду исполню
Два желания твоих.
Дай же мне добиться власти
Во краю родном.
День проходит – наш парнишка
Ходит королём.
Он теперь богат
Но не в этом суть,
В сердце парня грусть.
Снова через год
К озеру идёт...
Требуй, что тебе надо,
Я помочь буду рада,
И в награду исполню
Одно желанье твоё.
"Здравствуй, милая лягушка,
Сердцу помоги!
Вместо денег, вместо власти
Я хочу любви."
И лягушка вмиг
Изменила лик:
Перед королём
Королева стоит...
"Ой, какой любви надо? –
Я помочь буду рада.
И в награду исполню
Все желания твои! "

Three Wishes

A young man walked along the edge of the woods,
Not knowing where he'd roam.
He caught a little frog along the way,
Near a pond, its home.
With closed eyes it spoke,
In a whisper low and weak:
"Let me go, I beg,
Set me free, my friend unique."
Ask for what your heart desires,
I'll gladly fulfill your plea,
And as a reward, I'll grant you
Three wishes, just for thee.
Three wishes troubled the young man's mind,
He couldn't choose just one.
So for the first, he decided on
A bag of gold, shining like the sun.
He was rich beyond compare,
But happiness he couldn't find there:
Money turned his life
Into a living hell, unkind.
Ask for what your heart desires,
I'll gladly fulfill your plea,
And as a reward, I'll grant you
Two wishes, just for thee.
Grant me power and might,
In my homeland, let me reign.
A day goes by – our young man walks
As a king, with royal train.
He was rich and held command,
But that wasn't what mattered most,
Sadness filled his heart like a ghost.
Again, after a year,
To the lake he draws near...
Ask for what your heart desires,
I'll gladly fulfill your plea,
And as a reward, I'll grant you
One last wish, just for thee.
"Hello, dear little frog,
Help my heart find its way!
Instead of wealth, instead of power,
I long for love, come what may."
And the frog in a flash,
Transformed its form so quick:
Before the king there stood
A queen, her beauty slick...
"Oh, what kind of love do you seek? –
I'll gladly fulfill your plea.
And as a reward, I'll grant you
All your wishes, just for thee!"
