Ну, щедра моя старуха, не найти щедрей!
Подарила мне старуха десять дочерей:
Десять девушек – огонь,
Обожжешься, только тронь!
За версту они видны:
Так красивы и стройны.
Только все они с изъяном:
Кушать просят постоянно!
Вот селедку принесли – хвост у ней на славу,
"Ну, попробуй раздели, чтоб на всю ораву!"
Саре, Ривочке и Кейле,
Эльке, Шпринце, Эстер, Бейле,
Фейге, Фрейде, да меньшой,
Как не дать кусок большой.
Никакого с ними сладу:
Всем куски большие надо!
Но бывает иногда и селедки нету,
Но случается беда: нету в доме свету.
И сидят они впотьмах,
С черствой коркою в зубах.
Девки здоровенные,
Необыкновенные!
Кто б ни взял, отдам уж,
Не берут без денег замуж!
А теперь я вот каков –
Молод, весел и здоров!
"Десять дочек? - Ерунда,
Десять дочек? - Не беда!"
Весь десяток нарасхват –
Доложу я вам уж.
Не понадобился сват,
Сами вышли замуж.
И богатств не надо мне:
Все мое в моей стране.
А от дочек мне почет:
В гости каждая зовет.
Эх, прожить бы мне лет триста!
Стал на старости туристом!
То в Ташкент, то в Киев еду:
Надо же детей проведать!
Десять дочек? - Ерунда!
Десять дочек? - Не беда!
Все богаты, все дородны,
Веселы и плодородны!
Да случается теперь,
Что ко мне стучатся в дверь:
"Есть еще красавица?
Как вам это нравится?"

Ten Daughters

Oh, how my old lady spoils me, none can be more generous!

And I am honored by my daughters:

I would become a tourist in my old age!
I would travel to Tashkent and Kiev:
I must visit my children!

They are all rich, all well-fed,
