Erect a sturdy house,
And live a peaceful life,
To gather in the crops,
Sharpen the axe's bite,
Shoot true with steady sight,
And guard our home's domain,
Peasant's strength will aid us well.
And when war encroaches,
Foes swarm like a horde,
To defend we shall,
Our beloved native land,
Bright and fair is Rus',
And her children dear,
So their backs won't bend,
Under foreign chains severe,
