אז סחתי לה סיפור קטן והיא שקטה בהרהורים

סיפרתי לה על חיילים אשר יצאו למלחמה
ועל אחד אשר נפל קרוב קרוב לאדמה

To the Gray Fields

Michal is not so small anymore, but she still loves stories
And she also loves to walk to the gray fields
As the harvest ends and day fades, the skies light up with crimson
And in the silent field stands a lonely, orphaned tree

Michal looked sadly and whispered anxiously
"It's so scary to be a tree when night falls here"
So I told her a little story and she was quiet and thoughtful
As I said before, Michal loves stories

I told her about soldiers who went to war
And about one who fell close to the ground
I told her about my friend, the dearest of all my friends
Who stayed on the battlefield and will never return to me
Then Michal leaned towards me and asked in a hushed voice
"Isn't it terrible when there's war in the country?"

And when darkness fell, we walked slowly back from the fields
And only one orphaned tree remained alone in the dark.
"Tomorrow it might already be autumn" the thorns whisper
But we will go out again to roam the gray fields
