먼 옛날 나 어릴적 키작은 나무 하나
쏟아지는 햇살 아래 홀로 외로이 서 있었지

어느새 지나버린 내 작은 어린 시절

언젠가 내 키보다 커버린후
까마득히 잊고지낸 내 어릴적 기억 속에

하늘 보다도 파란 꿈에 포근히 잠이 드네

The Boy's Tree

Long ago when I was young, A small tree used to stand
In the pouring sunlight All alone and lonely it was.

It had no fruit, no pretty flowers, and no cool shade,
But always happy to see me, My dear little friend that I used to dream of.

And then my childhood passed me by,
And in my joys and in my tears, the tree watched over me.

And now I seek the tree, a changed man,
In my little courtyard, where it greets me with the same old song.

One day it grew taller than me,
And in the memories of my childhood, which I had long forgotten,

Like a dream, over there in the distance, laughing,
I fall into a warm sleep, in a dream that’s bluer than the sky.
