17 Crimes is the first single off of Burials, and I'm glad that it is
When we had written it, my immediate thought was
"That better be the first single"

We wrote the song in, like, fifteen minutes

It was one of the fastest moments of creation
Jade and I sat down and he played the verse riff
And I wrote the lyrics right then and there, and we demoed it out

We were playing the song as if we already knew how to play it
It just kind of came very naturally

It's one of my favorite songs on the record
There's not a lot of pop on the record
And it's one of the poppier songs

It's deceptively sort of a pop-sounding song
But really, as far as the creation of it, it was the rawest one
They don't always happen like that
But sometimes they do and it's very fulfilling in that way

17 Crimes ist die erste Single von Burials, und ich bin froh, dass sie es ist.
Als wir sie geschrieben hatten, war mein erster Gedanke:
"Das sollte besser die erste Single sein."

Wir haben den Song in etwa fünfzehn Minuten geschrieben.

Es war einer der schnellsten Momente der Schöpfung.
Jade und ich setzten uns hin, und er spielte das Strophen-Riff.
Und ich schrieb die Lyrics sofort auf, und wir haben es als Demo aufgenommen.

Wir spielten den Song, als ob wir schon wüssten, wie man ihn spielt.
Es kam einfach sehr natürlich.

Es ist einer meiner Lieblingssongs auf dem Album.
Es gibt nicht viel Pop auf der Platte.
Und es ist einer der poppigeren Songs.

Es ist täuschend, irgendwie ein Pop-Song.
Aber was die Entstehung angeht, war es wirklich der roheste Song.
So läuft es nicht immer.
Aber manchmal passiert es, und es ist in dieser Hinsicht sehr erfüllend, meine Liebe.
