17 Crimes is the first single off of Burials, and I'm glad that it is
When we had written it, my immediate thought was
"That better be the first single"

We wrote the song in, like, fifteen minutes

It was one of the fastest moments of creation
Jade and I sat down and he played the verse riff
And I wrote the lyrics right then and there, and we demoed it out

We were playing the song as if we already knew how to play it
It just kind of came very naturally

It's one of my favorite songs on the record
There's not a lot of pop on the record
And it's one of the poppier songs

It's deceptively sort of a pop-sounding song
But really, as far as the creation of it, it was the rawest one
They don't always happen like that
But sometimes they do and it's very fulfilling in that way

17 Crimes est le premier single de Burials, et j'en suis heureux.
Quand on l'a écrit, ma première pensée a été :
"Ça doit être le premier single."

On a écrit la chanson en, genre, quinze minutes.

C'était l'un des moments de création les plus rapides.
Jade et moi nous sommes assis et il a joué le riff du couplet.
Et j'ai écrit les paroles immédiatement, et on a fait une démo.

On jouait la chanson comme si on savait déjà la jouer.
C'est venu très naturellement.

C'est une de mes chansons préférées sur l'album.
Il n'y a pas beaucoup de pop sur l'album.
Et c'est une des chansons les plus pop.

C'est une chanson qui sonne trompeusement pop.
Mais en réalité, pour ce qui est de sa création, c'était la plus brute.
Ça n'arrive pas toujours comme ça.
Mais parfois ça arrive et c'est très satisfaisant de cette façon.
