When suddenly a stranger he came following after me.

Je lui ai dit les mots que le marionnettiste avait dits,
Et il a répondu qu'il pensait que c'était le bateau des morts.
Alors on a attendu jusqu'à l'obscurité,
On a vu un arc de lune argenté,
En dessous, une barque brillante naviguait.
Sur le rivage, on a entendu de curieuses voix qui chantaient,
Comme une couleur, ou le vol d'un oiseau doré,
Une fine pluie tombait du ciel,
Et la barque dorée avec son chargement a passé.
