O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight

O morning stars, together proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth
For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above
While mortals sleep the angels keep their watch of wondering love

How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is giv'n!
So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of his heav'n
No ear may hear his coming, but in this world of sin
Where meek souls will receive him, still the dear Christ enters in

O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today
We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell

О маленький городок Вифлеем, как тихо ты лежишь!
Над твоим глубоким и безмятежным сном безмолвно звезды плывут.
Но в твоих темных улицах сияет Вечный Свет.
Надежды и страхи всех лет встречаются в тебе этой ночью, моя дорогая.

О утренние звезды, вместе возвещайте святое Рождество!
И славите Бога Царя, и мир людям на земле.
Ибо Христос родился от Марии, и собрал всех на небесах.
Пока смертные спят, ангелы хранят свою стражу любви и чуда.

Как тихо, как тихо дарится этот чудесный дар!
Так Бог дарует человеческим сердцам благословения своего Неба.
Ни одно ухо не услышит Его пришествия, но в этом мире греха,
Где кроткие души примут Его, дорогой Христос входит в них.

О святый Отрок Вифлеемский, снизой к нам, молим!
Изгони наш грех и войди, родись в нас сегодня.
Мы слышим рождественских ангелов, возвещающих великую радостную весть.
О приди к нам, останься с нами, Господь наш Эммануил.
