And these followers of Jesus Christ have been, according to the whim of the times, elevated sacred leaders and modern heretics.
Yet through it all, their march is on that powerful army of the meek.
God's chosen people who cannot be bought, blabbered, murdered or stilled.
On through the ages they march, the church!

Manch törichter Eroberer hat den Fehler gemacht zu denken, dass er, weil er die Kirche Jesu Christi aus dem Blickfeld gedrängt hatte, ihre Stimme zum Schweigen gebracht und ihr Leben ausgelöscht hätte, aber Gott hat immer ein Volk gehabt.
Die mächtige Strömung eines reißenden Flusses wird nicht geschwächt, weil sie gezwungen ist, unterirdisch zu fließen.
Nun, das reinste Wasser ist der Strom, der kristallklar ins Sonnenlicht hervorbricht, nachdem er sich seinen Weg durch massiven Fels gebahnt hat.

Es gab Zeiten des Überflusses und Wohlstands, in denen die Botschaft der Kirche beinahe bis zur Bedeutungslosigkeit verwässert wurde von jenen, die versuchten, sie sozial attraktiv, sauber organisiert und finanziell profitabel zu machen, aber Gott hat immer ein Volk gehabt.
Ja, sie wurde vergoldet, in Purpur gehüllt und mit Juwelen besetzt.
Sie wurde falsch dargestellt, verspottet, gelobt und verachtet, aber Gott hat immer ein Volk gehabt.
Und diese Nachfolger Jesu Christi wurden, je nach Laune der Zeit, zu heiligen Führern erhoben oder zu modernen Ketzern erklärt.
Doch durch all das hindurch geht ihr Marsch weiter, jene mächtige Armee der Sanftmütigen.
Gottes auserwähltes Volk, das nicht gekauft, eingeschüchtert [Anm.: Original "blabbered", vermutlich Fehler, "eingeschüchtert" passt kontextuell], ermordet oder zum Schweigen gebracht werden kann.
