Anchor (Hebrews 6:13-20)

The scripture say
11And we desire that every one of you do shew the
Same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
12that ye be not slothful,
But followers of them who through
Faith and patience inherit the promises.
13For when God made promise to Abraham,
Because He could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14saying, Surely blessing I will bless
Thee, and multiplying I will multiply you.
15And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
16For men verily swear by the greater:
And an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.
17Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of
Promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
18that by two immutable things,
In which it was impossible for God to lie,
We might have a strong consolation,
Who have fled for refuge to lay hold
Upon the hope that is set before us:
19which hope we have as an anchor of the soul,
Both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil
Where our High Priest has gone before us
We bless You for hope
Now we can wait upon You

Les Écritures disent
11 Et nous désirons que chacun de vous montre la
Même diligence à la pleine assurance de l'espérance jusqu'à la fin :
12 afin que vous ne soyez pas paresseux,
Mais imitateurs de ceux qui par la
Foi et la patience héritent des promesses.
13 Car lorsque Dieu fit la promesse à Abraham,
Parce qu'il ne pouvait jurer par un plus grand, il jura par lui-même,
14 disant : Certainement, je te bénirai,
Et je te multiplierai.
15 Et ainsi, après avoir patiemment enduré, il obtint la promesse.
16 Car les hommes jurent en effet par le plus grand :
Et un serment pour confirmation est pour eux la fin de toute contestation.
17 En cela, Dieu, voulant plus abondamment montrer aux héritiers de la
Promesse l'immutabilité de son conseil, l'a confirmé par un serment :
18 afin que par deux choses immuables,
Dans lesquelles il était impossible que Dieu mentît,
Nous ayons une forte consolation,
Qui nous sommes réfugiés pour saisir
L'espérance qui nous est proposée :
19 espérance que nous avons comme une ancre de l'âme,
À la fois sûre et ferme, et qui pénètre au-delà du voile
Où notre grand prêtre est allé avant nous
Nous te bénissons pour l'espoir
Maintenant, nous pouvons attendre de toi
