Learning to Love (Live)
Apprendre à aimer (Live)
I
courted
a
man
from
the
Lancs
Fusiliers
J'ai
courtisé
un
homme
des
Lancs
Fusiliers
He
gave
me
his
heart
and
so
I
loved
him
dear
Il
m'a
donné
son
cœur
et
je
l'ai
aimé
tendrement
For
he
took
me
a-courting
and
he
taught
me
to
dance
Car
il
m'a
emmenée
me
promener
et
il
m'a
appris
à
danser
Then
he
marched
with
the
infantry
over
to
France
Puis
il
est
parti
avec
l'infanterie
en
France
He
told
me
to
wait
he'd
be
back
in
a
year
Il
m'a
dit
d'attendre,
il
serait
de
retour
dans
un
an
Now
seventeen
months
I
have
wished
he
were
here
Maintenant,
dix-sept
mois,
j'ai
souhaité
qu'il
soit
ici
And
I'll
wait
no
longer,
I'll
take
what
I
can
Et
je
n'attendrai
plus,
je
prendrai
ce
que
je
peux
So
I'm
learning
to
love
with
another
young
man
Alors
j'apprends
à
aimer
avec
un
autre
jeune
homme
Learning
to
love
Apprendre
à
aimer
Learning
to
love
Apprendre
à
aimer
Tired
of
the
waiting
Fatiguée
de
l'attente
I'm
learning
to
love
J'apprends
à
aimer
So
I
courted
a
man
from
the
Royal
Horse
Blues
Alors
j'ai
courtisé
un
homme
des
Royal
Horse
Blues
He
soon
had
to
leave
and
I
said
I'd
be
true
Il
a
dû
partir
rapidement
et
j'ai
dit
que
je
serais
fidèle
Now
he's
gone
for
his
duty
not
seven
weeks
yet
Maintenant,
il
est
parti
pour
son
devoir,
il
n'y
a
pas
encore
sept
semaines
So
I've
found
a
new
young
man
to
help
me
forget
Alors
j'ai
trouvé
un
nouveau
jeune
homme
pour
m'aider
à
oublier
I
courted
a
man
from
the
Kent
Volunteer
J'ai
courtisé
un
homme
du
Kent
Volunteer
Now
he's
gone
a-marching,
and
I
wish
he
were
here
Maintenant,
il
est
parti
marcher,
et
j'aimerais
qu'il
soit
ici
What
can
I
do
while
my
love
is
away?
Que
puis-je
faire
pendant
que
mon
amour
est
absent
?
But
court
with
a
soldier
from
the
Royal
Scots
Grey
Mais
faire
la
cour
avec
un
soldat
des
Royal
Scots
Grey
One
day
they'll
come
back
and
then
I'll
be
true
Un
jour,
ils
reviendront
et
alors
je
serai
fidèle
For
I've
learnt
how
to
love
and
I've
learnt
how
to
choose
Car
j'ai
appris
à
aimer
et
j'ai
appris
à
choisir
To
every
young
woman
who
waits
at
the
shore
À
toutes
les
jeunes
femmes
qui
attendent
sur
le
rivage
Love
while
you're
waiting;
you'll
learn
so
much
more
Aime
pendant
que
tu
attends
; tu
apprendras
tellement
plus

The Boy Bands Have Won, and All the Copyists and the Tribute Bands and the TV Talent Show Producers Have Won, If We Allow Our Culture to Be Shaped by Mimicry, Whether from Lack of Ideas or From Exaggerated Respect. You Should Never Try to Freeze Culture. What You Can Do Is Recycle That Culture. Take Your Older Brother's Hand-Me-Down Jacket and Re-Style It, Re-Fashion It to the Point Where It Becomes Your Own. But Don't Just Regurgitate Creative History, or Hold Art and Music and Literature as Fixed, Untouchable and Kept Under Glass. The People Who Try to 'Guard' Any Particular Form of Music Are, Like the Copyists and Manufactured Bands, Doing It the Worst Disservice, Because the Only Thing That You Can Do to Music That Will Damage It Is Not Change It, Not Make It Your Own. Because Then It Dies, Then It's Over, Then It's Done, and the Boy Bands Have Won.
