Now I have a story that I'd like to tell
About this guy you all know him, he had me scared as hell!
He comes to me at night after I crawl into bed

Ready Rock got some girl I'd never seen in my life
That was all right because the lady was chill
Then we dipped to the theater set to ill
Buggin' cold havin' a ball
And somethin' about Elm St. was the movie we saw
The way it started was decent you know nuthin' real fancy
About this homeboy names Fred and this girl named Nancy
But word when it was over I say "Yo that was def"
And everything seemed all right when we left
But when I got home and laid down to sleep
That began the nightmare, on my street!

It was burnin in my room like an oven
My bed soaked with sweat, and man, I was buggin
I checked the clock and it stopped at 12:30
It had melted it was so darn hot, and I was thirsty
I wanted something cool to quench my thirst
I thought to myself yo this heaters the worst
But when I got downstairs I noticed something was wrong
I was home all alone but the TV was on

I thought nothin' of it as I grabbed the remote
I pushed the power button and then I almost choked
When I heard this awful voice coming from behind It said
"You got my favorite letter but now you must die"

Man, I ain't even wait to see who it was
Broke outside my drawers and screamed, "So long, cuz!"
Got halfway up the block I calmed down and stopped screamin
Then thought, "Oh, I get it, I must be dreamin"
I strolled back home with a grin on my grill
I figured since this is a dream I might as well get ill
I walked in the house, the Big Bad Fresh Prince
But Freddy killed all that noise real quick

He grabbed me by my neck and said, "Here's what we'll do
We gotta lotta work here, me and you
The souls of your friends you and I will claim
You've got the body, and I've got the brain"
I said, "Yo Fred, I think you've got me all wrong
I ain't partners with nobody with nails that long
Look, I'll be honest man, this team won't work
The girls won't be on you, Fred your face is all burnt!"

Fred got mad and his head started steaming
But I've thought what the hell I'm only dreamin'
I said please leave Fred so I can get some sleep
But give me a call maybe we'll hang out next week

I patted him on the shoulder said, "Thanks for stopping by"
Then I opened up the door and said, "Take care guy!"
He got mad, drew back his arm, and slashed my shirt
I laughed at first, then thought, "Hold up, that hurt!"

It wasn't a dream, man, this guy was for real
I said, "Freddy, uh, pal, there's been an awful mistake here"
No further words and then I darted upstairs
Crashed through my door then jumped on my bed
Pulled the covers up over my head
And said, "Oh please do somethin with Fred!"
He jumped on my bed, went through the covers with his claws
Tried to get me, but my alarm went off
And then silence! It was a whole new day
I thought, "Huh, I wasn't scared of him anyway."
Until I noticed those rips in my sheets
And that was proof that there had been a nightmare, on my street

Un Cauchemar Dans Ma Rue

J'ai une histoire que j'aimerais te raconter,
À propos de ce type, tu le connais, il m'a fait terriblement peur !
Il vient me voir la nuit après que je me sois glissé dans mon lit,
Il est cramé comme une saucisse et il s'appelle Fred !
Il porte le même chapeau et le même pull tous les jours,

C'était un samedi soir, si je me souviens bien,

Alors la bande et moi, on s'est dit que ce serait cool
De rassembler la troupe et d'aller au cinéma,
J'ai eu Angie, Jeff a eu Tina,
Ready Rock a eu une fille que je n'avais jamais vue de ma vie,
C'était pas grave parce que la demoiselle était cool,
Puis on s'est pointés au cinéma, prêts à kiffer,
On s'éclatait comme des fous,

Mais franchement, quand c'était fini, j'ai dit : "Yo, c'était mortel !",
Et tout semblait aller bien quand on est partis,
Mais quand je suis rentré à la maison et que je me suis couché,
C'est là que le cauchemar a commencé, dans ma rue !

Il faisait une chaleur infernale dans ma chambre, comme dans un four,
Mon lit était trempé de sueur, et mec, j'étais en sueur,
J'ai regardé l'horloge et elle s'est arrêtée à 00h30,
Elle avait fondu tellement il faisait chaud, et j'avais soif,
Je voulais quelque chose de frais pour me désaltérer,
Je me suis dit : "Yo, ce radiateur, c'est l'enfer !",
Mais en descendant, j'ai remarqué que quelque chose n'allait pas,
J'étais tout seul à la maison, mais la télé était allumée,

Je n'y ai pas prêté attention en attrapant la télécommande,
J'ai appuyé sur le bouton d'alimentation et j'ai failli m'étouffer
Quand j'ai entendu cette voix horrible venir de derrière moi qui disait :
"Tu as ma lettre préférée, mais maintenant tu dois mourir",

Mec, j'ai même pas attendu de voir qui c'était,
Je suis sorti en courant en caleçon en hurlant : "Salut, mon pote !",
Arrivé à mi-chemin du pâté de maisons, je me suis calmé et j'ai arrêté de crier,
Puis j'ai pensé : "Oh, je comprends, je dois rêver",
Je suis rentré à la maison avec un sourire narquois,
Je me suis dit que puisque c'était un rêve, autant en profiter,
Je suis entré dans la maison, le Grand et Audacieux Prince,
Mais Freddy a vite fait taire tout ce bruit,

Il m'a attrapé par le cou et m'a dit : "Voilà ce qu'on va faire,
On a du pain sur la planche, toi et moi,

J'ai dit : "Yo Fred, je crois que tu te trompes sur mon compte,

Fred s'est mis en colère et sa tête s'est mise à fumer,
