Ernie: „Und wenn ich den Knopf so herumdrehe, spielt das Radio lauter.“
Bert: „Ja, ich weiß. Siehst du, ich versuche da drüben zu lesen...“
Ernie: „Und dann Bert, wenn ich den Knopf so herumdrehe, spielt das Radio leiser.“
Bert: „Gut, genauso mag ich es, Ernie, leise.“
Ernie: „Aber ich glaube, ich glaube, am allerliebsten mag ich es, wenn ich das Radio laut aufdrehe.“
Bert: „Ernie! Ernie! Das ist zu laut. Du lässt das Radio sehr, sehr laut spielen!“
Ernie: „Bert, schrei nicht, ich versuche, dem Radio zuzuhören!“
Bert: „Ich werde schreien, Ernie! Ich werde schreien! Ich habe jedes Recht zu schreien! Ich werde schreien und schreien und schreien, weil ich mich sonst nicht hören kann!“
(Ernie schaltet das Radio aus)
Bert: „Ernie! Also, es ist dir wirklich egal, ob ich etwas Ruhe und Frieden haben will, oder?“
Ernie: „Ich frage mich, was passieren würde, wenn ich den Knopf von diesem Radio abnehmen würde...“
Bert: „Weißt du, du nimmst wirklich keine Rücksicht auf Leute, oder?“
Ernie: „Komm her, Bert.“
Bert: „Was machst du?“
Ernie: „Ich werde den Lautstärkeregler an dir anbringen.“

(Ernie dreht die Lautstärke auf)
Bert: (Mit lauterer Stimme) „Ich habe versucht, da drüben zu lesen! Ich versuche schon so lange zu lesen...“
(Ernie dreht die Lautstärke leiser)
Bert: (Mit leiserer Stimme) „Und ich höre das Radio lauter und leiser, lauter und leiser, lauter und leiser werden. Und das will ich nicht. Ich will...“
(Ernie schaltet Bert aus)
Ernie: „Hihihihi.“
(Ernie lässt Bert dort stehen, dessen Mund sich bewegt, aber kein Ton herauskommt)
