Mas ser um poeta, e ser chamado pelo tempo

Destiny

I am the one who descends the asphalt on Morro da Terezinha
And I even feel at home crossing those streets
Between closed windows, dogs and police cars
And my goal, or even more, my destiny
Is to see where the pains of this life end
And to see if the wounds, clear in every retina
Are not because the hoarse voice of power determines it

I am the one who fulfills the destiny of being born in the woods
And having lived on the hill among flowers on the sidewalk
Between cells and traps, joy and loneliness
But to be a poet, and to be called by time
To be the voice that reveals what pain has silenced
