And I'd go down to see grandma
And I'd push them down to the store
To get a popsicle or whatever
And this lady who lived down
Below where we used to live
Her name was Goldie
And she says
Oh what beautiful blue eyes that baby has
Every time she'd see that baby
She'd remark about her eyes

This one day I came home from my mothers
And put the baby to bed
She was probably about oh I don't know
About a year old and she starts screaming
And she cried and she cried and she cried
I took her to the doctors
He says there's nothing wrong with her
I said she won't stop crying
The lady that lived downstairs
She says do you mind if I call my mother?

I think someone put the evil eye on her
I think someone has it on all of us

Monologue : Le Mauvais Œil

Oh, c'est pour l'enlever.
Ce que c'est que de le provoquer.
Je pense que ça se transmet.
De mère en fille.
D'accord, c'est le mauvais œil.
Occhio signifie œil en italien.
Mal, c'est mauvais.
Mauvais œil, c'est mauvais œil.
Et Falco, c'est faucon.
Œil de faucon.

Pour enlever le mauvais œil,
ils mettent de l'eau dans un bol
et y laissent tomber de l'huile.
Et ils prient dessus.
Et l'huile formera un œil
si on vous a jeté le mauvais œil.
Bref, avec le bébé...
T'ai-je déjà raconté ça, chérie ?
Oui, eh bien, quand elle était bébé,
elle avait de grands yeux bleus,
tout comme ta mère.
Des yeux bleus brillants.

Et je descendais voir grand-mère,
et je les emmenais au magasin
pour acheter une glace ou autre.
Et cette dame qui habitait en bas,
là où on habitait avant,
elle s'appelait Goldie.
Et elle disait :
"Oh, quels beaux yeux bleus a ce bébé !"
Chaque fois qu'elle voyait le bébé,
elle remarquait ses yeux.

Un jour, je suis rentré de chez ma mère
et j'ai mis le bébé au lit.
Elle avait probablement, oh, je ne sais pas,
environ un an, et elle s'est mise à hurler.
Et elle a pleuré, pleuré, pleuré.
Je l'ai emmenée chez le médecin.
Il a dit qu'il n'y avait rien qui cloche chez elle.
J'ai dit qu'elle n'arrêtait pas de pleurer.
La dame qui habitait en bas,
elle a dit : "Ça vous dérange si j'appelle ma mère ?"

Je pense que quelqu'un lui a jeté le mauvais œil.
Je pense que quelqu'un nous l'a jeté à tous.
