Once upon a time in the land of hushabye
In the woundrous days of yore
They came upon this kind of box

Decree was issued round about

Children happen to be good

A Kind of bouncy bumpy ball, filled with guns and flags and all the tears and

And what was sad and most unfair
Is that it didn't really seem to care much who it bumped
Or why, or what, or for.
It bumped the children mainly
And I'll tell you this quite plainly
It bumps them evry day and more, and more
And leaves them dead and burned and dying
Thousands of them sick and crying
Cos when it bumps
Its really very sore
Now theres a way to stop the ball
It isn't difficult at all
All it takes is wisdom
And I'm absolutley sure
We can get the ball back in the box
And bind the chains
And lock the locks
No one seems to want to save the children any more

Давным-давно, в стране дремоты,
В чудесные дни былых времён,
Люди нашли шкатулку странную,
Цепями связанную, замками запертую,
И надпись на ней: «Не трогать! ВОЙНА!»
Указ издали по всей округе,
С фанфарами и громким звуком,
И яркие талисманы скакали впереди,
«Не трогайте эту смертельную шкатулку!»
«Не рвите цепи и замки не ломайте!»
«С войной, пожалуйста, не играйте!»
Дети всё поняли,
Дети ведь бывают хороши,
И были такими же, как в былые времена,
Они не пытались рвать цепи или взламывать замки,
Они не играли с войной.
Мамы тоже не играли,
Сёстры, тёти, бабушки — никто,
Они были тихи, милы и красивы в те чудесные дни,
Почти как сейчас,
И не их вина, дорогая,
Что открыли ту смертельную шкатулку войны.
Но кто-то открыл,
Кто-то сорвал крышку,
И содержимое высыпалось на пол.
Словно прыгучий мяч, полный оружия, флагов, слёз и
Ужаса и смерти, что приходят с войной.
Он выпрыгнул и покатился, круша всё вокруг,
И врезался во всё, что попадалось на пути.
И что печально и несправедливо,
Ему было всё равно, кого он задевает,
Зачем, почему и для чего.
Он задевал в основном детей,
И скажу тебе прямо,
Он задевает их каждый день, всё больше и больше,
И оставляет их мёртвыми, сожжёнными, умирающими,
Тысячи больных и плачущих,
Потому что, когда он ударяет,
Это очень больно.
Есть способ остановить этот мяч,
Это совсем не сложно,
Нужна лишь мудрость,
И я абсолютно уверен,
Мы можем вернуть мяч обратно в шкатулку,
Надеть цепи,
Запереть замки.
Кажется, никто больше не хочет спасать детей.
Вот так всё и выглядит,
Этот мяч скачет уже много лет,
Несмотря на всю мудрость мудрецов с тех чудесных дней,
