The Whiskey Train

Here's a strange phenomenon that has to be explained
When the van den Heever- brother's wrecked the British train
Their commando had to stop, the British getting their supplies
And when the trucks rolled over, they got a sweet surprise

On board were rations for the lower Tommy- soldiers class
And crates of beer and whiskey for the snobbish British brass
British escorts on the train were captures there and then
By the Heidelberg commando's hundred and fifty men

So drink, drink, drink to the Whiskey train
She went of the rails, but it was not in vain
The loss of her cargo, was everybody's gain

So each of the commando's took a bottle from the loot
The Tommy's were invited and so they followed suit
And it's quite amazing how a little whiskey dram
Can change the whole demeanor of a battle- hardened man

Arms around each other's shoulders
When one could have feared the worst
Couldn't speak each other's languages
But somehow they conversed
One little British Tommy
He slurred so very much
His mates thought that by magic
He had learned to speak in Dutch

And Jack van den Heever
He plucked up the courage
To tell Commandant Buys
He'd take his daughter's hand in marriage

Stole the British festive cheer
Bringing reconciliation

Voici un étrange phénomène qui doit être expliqué, ma chérie

Et quand les wagons ont basculé, ils ont eu une douce surprise
