Once upon a time there was a little man called Klaas
And he had a trading post out in the wilderness
And though he put up signposts it was to no avail
Nobody could find his shop far off the beaten trail
And in this shop he really had such lovely things to trade
Lollipops and candy floss and delicious lemonade
Souvenirs and ginger beers and lovely little toys
Just the thing for grownups and little girls and boys
One day a little green cuckoo he came flying by
He looked through the window and saw Klaas about to cry
There were just no customers and he'd have to close up shop
The Cuckoo said I'll help you Klaas you'll see so don't give up
Very cheap very cheap that Cuckoo seemed to say
T' was Klaas's lucky day
So the Cuckoo flew down to the corner where the big roads meet
And up sat he in a big tall tree and he began to tweet
And people they all stopped and out of curiosity
They followed the little Cuckoo as he flew from tree to tree
Very cheap very cheap come along and buy
Follow me and don't be shy
And from that day the folks all came a crowding through the door
And Klaas had a grin from ear to ear he could not ask for more
And the Cuckoo kept on calling on the window sill
And that's the very reason there was money in the till
Very cheap very cheap and everybody raved
And Klaas's shop was saved
Then the Cuckoo said I like Klaas and I'd like you to know
I got my name from a faithful servant that lived long ago
And if I can be of service I'll live up to my name
The servant's name was Klaas our names are just the same
Very cheap very cheap come and buy some more
Down at Klaas' store
Very cheap very cheap when you hear that sound
There's bargains to be found
Very cheap very cheap you'll hear the Cuckoo say

Vraiment Pas Cher

Il était une fois un petit homme nommé Klaas, ma chère,
Et il avait un poste de traite au milieu de la nature sauvage.
Et bien qu'il ait mis des panneaux, ce fut en vain,
Personne ne pouvait trouver sa boutique, loin des sentiers battus.
Et dans cette boutique, il avait vraiment de belles choses à échanger, ma belle :
Sucettes, barbe à papa et délicieuse limonade,
Souvenirs, bières au gingembre et jolis petits jouets,
Juste ce qu'il faut pour les adultes, les petites filles et les petits garçons.
Un jour, un petit coucou vert est passé en volant,
Il a regardé par la fenêtre et a vu Klaas sur le point de pleurer.
Il n'y avait pas de clients et il allait devoir fermer boutique,
Le coucou a dit : "Je vais t'aider Klaas, tu verras, alors n'abandonne pas."
"Vraiment pas cher, vraiment pas cher", semblait dire le coucou,
C'était le jour de chance de Klaas.
Alors le coucou s'est envolé jusqu'au coin où se rejoignent les grandes routes,
Et il s'est perché dans un grand arbre et s'est mis à chanter.
Et les gens se sont tous arrêtés, et par curiosité,
Ils ont suivi le petit coucou alors qu'il volait d'arbre en arbre.
"Vraiment pas cher, vraiment pas cher, venez acheter,
Suivez-moi et ne soyez pas timides."
Et à partir de ce jour, les gens sont venus en foule par la porte,
Et Klaas avait un sourire d'une oreille à l'autre, il ne pouvait pas en demander plus.
Et le coucou continuait d'appeler sur le rebord de la fenêtre,
Et c'est la raison pour laquelle il y avait de l'argent dans la caisse.
"Vraiment pas cher, vraiment pas cher", tout le monde s'extasiait,
Et la boutique de Klaas était sauvée.
Puis le coucou a dit : "J'aime bien Klaas, et j'aimerais que tu saches,
Que j'ai reçu mon nom d'un fidèle serviteur qui a vécu il y a longtemps.
Et si je peux être utile, je serai à la hauteur de mon nom,
Le nom du serviteur était Klaas, nos noms sont les mêmes."
"Vraiment pas cher, vraiment pas cher, venez en acheter plus,
À la boutique de Klaas."
"Vraiment pas cher, vraiment pas cher", quand vous entendez ce son,
Il y a des bonnes affaires à trouver.
"Vraiment pas cher, vraiment pas cher", vous entendrez le coucou dire,
Le coucou a sauvé la situation.
