Now I have a story that I′d like to tell
About this guy, you all know me I was scared as hell
He comes to me at night when I crawl into bed
He's burnt up like a weenie and his name is Fred

The way it started was decent

That began the nightmare, on my street

It was burnin' in my room like an oven
My bed soaked with sweat, and man, I was buggin′
I checked the clock, and it stopped at 12:30
It had melted it was so darn hot, and I was thirsty
I wanted something cool to quench my thirst
I thought to myself, Yo! This heat is the worst
But when I got downstairs, I noticed something was wrong
I was home all alone, but the TV was on
I thought nothin′ of it as I grabbed the remote
I pushed the power button, and I then almost choked
When I heard this awful voice comin' from behind, it said

Crashed through my door then jumped on my bed

Un Cauchemar Dans Ma Rue

J'ai une histoire que j'aimerais te raconter,
À propos de ce type, tu me connais, j'étais mort de peur.
Il vient me voir la nuit quand je me glisse dans mon lit,
Il est brûlé comme une saucisse et il s'appelle Fred.
Il porte le même chapeau et le même pull tous les jours,
Et même s'il fait chaud dehors, il les porte quand même.
Il est chez lui quand je suis éveillé, mais il se montre quand je dors,
Je n'arrive pas à croire qu'il y ait un cauchemar dans ma rue.

C'était un samedi soir, si je me souviens bien,
Et on venait juste de rentrer de tournée la nuit dernière.
Alors la bande et moi, on s'est dit que ce serait cool
De réunir la troupe et d'aller mater un film.
J'ai pris Angie, Jeff a pris Tina,
Ready Rock est venu avec une fille que je n'avais jamais vue de ma vie.
Mais c'était cool, parce que la demoiselle était sympa.
Ensuite, on s'est pointés au cinéma, prêts à kiffer.
On déconnait, on s'éclatait,
Et on a vu "Les Griffes de la Nuit", un truc comme ça.
Le début était pas mal,
Tu sais, rien d'extraordinaire.
Ça parlait d'un mec qui s'appelait Fred
Et d'une fille qui s'appelait Nancy.
Mais franchement, quand c'était fini, j'ai dit : "Yo, c'était mortel !".
Et tout semblait aller bien quand on est partis.
Mais quand je suis rentré à la maison et que je me suis couché,
C'est là que le cauchemar a commencé dans ma rue.

Il faisait une chaleur infernale dans ma chambre, comme dans un four,
Mon lit était trempé de sueur, et j'étais en stress total.
J'ai regardé l'horloge, elle était bloquée à 00h30,
Elle avait fondu tellement il faisait chaud, et j'avais soif.
Je voulais quelque chose de frais pour me désaltérer,
Je me suis dit : "Yo ! Cette chaleur est insupportable !".
Mais quand je suis descendu, j'ai remarqué que quelque chose clochait.
J'étais tout seul à la maison, mais la télé était allumée.
Je n'y ai pas prêté attention en attrapant la télécommande.
J'ai appuyé sur le bouton d'alimentation et j'ai failli m'étouffer
Quand j'ai entendu cette voix horrible derrière moi qui disait :
"Tu es mon rappeur préféré, mais maintenant tu dois mourir !".
Mec, j'ai même pas attendu de voir qui c'était,
J'ai filé dans ma chambre en hurlant : "Salut, j'y vais !".
Arrivé à mi-chemin du pâté de maisons, je me suis calmé et j'ai arrêté de crier.
Et je me suis dit : "Oh, je comprends, je dois rêver".
Je suis rentré à la maison avec un sourire narquois,
Je me suis dit que puisque c'était un rêve, je pouvais bien m'éclater.
Je suis entré dans la maison, le grand, le méchant, le Prince Frais,
Mais Freddy a vite fait de calmer mes ardeurs.
Il m'a attrapé par le cou et m'a dit :
"Voilà ce qu'on va faire. On a du boulot, toi et moi.
On va s'occuper des âmes de tes amis, toi et moi.
Tu as le physique, j'ai le cerveau."

J'ai dit : "Yo, Fred, je crois que tu te trompes sur mon compte.
Je ne m'associe avec personne qui a des ongles aussi longs.
Écoute, pour être honnête, mec, cette équipe ne fonctionnera pas.
Les filles ne seront pas à toi, Fred, ton visage est tout brûlé."
Fred s'est mis en colère et sa tête s'est mise à fumer.
Mais je me suis dit : "Qu'est-ce que j'en ai à faire, je ne fais que rêver".
J'ai dit : "S'il te plaît, laisse-moi, Fred, que je puisse dormir un peu.
Mais file-moi ton numéro, on pourrait traîner ensemble la semaine prochaine."
Je lui ai tapé sur l'épaule en disant : "Merci d'être passé.".
Puis j'ai ouvert la porte et j'ai dit : "Fais attention à toi, mon pote !".
Il s'est énervé, a lancé son bras en arrière et a lacéré ma chemise.
J'ai ri au début, puis je me suis dit : "Attends un peu, ça fait mal.".

Ce n'était pas un rêve, mec, ce type était bien réel.
J'ai dit : "Freddy, euh, euh, il y a une terrible erreur.".
Sans dire un mot de plus, j'ai filé en haut,
J'ai défoncé ma porte et j'ai sauté sur mon lit.
Je me suis enroulé dans les couvertures et j'ai dit :
"Oh, s'il te plaît, fais quelque chose avec Fred !".
Il a sauté sur mon lit et a jeté les couvertures avec ses griffes.
Il a essayé de m'attraper mais mon réveil a sonné et là,
Silence.
C'était un tout nouveau jour, me suis-je dit.
Hé, je n'avais pas peur de lui, de toute façon.
Jusqu'à ce que je remarque ces déchirures dans mes draps.
Et c'était la preuve qu'il y avait eu un cauchemar dans ma rue.
