Fading away, white streaks of airplane vapor trails we watched
Blinded, I turned away and ran, ever so weak
From that day on, unchanging, ever unchanging
Our inability to stay that way, tearfully I unclench my hand

That bird still hasn't learned to fly
But one day it will know the freedom of the wind
Places unreachable seem so far off still
I can only treasure my wish and gaze upon it

Children walk along the summer railroad tracks, exposing bare feet to the breeze
Memories of youth in the distance, while our hands cradle dreams of flight

Fading away, vapor trails of airplanes, I chase and chase
Over that hill, from that day on unchanging, ever unchanging
Our true selves, forever straight ahead
The strength of a sea god, I will surely, surely guard

Those windmill blades, turning in the sky
Dreaming the same dream, forever
Staring at places unreachable
The bird's dream, filled with wishes
