Emboscado en las entrañas de una travesía
De cien mil desiertos que no admiten vuelta atrás,
Siento que el camino que he quemado cada día
Me conduce, cuando acaba, a otro desierto más.

Pero sigo andando en busca de algún espejismo
Por si alguna vez alguno de ellos es el mar,
Los hallados hasta ahora sólo han sido abismos
Por los que caí por no adorar ningún altar.

Perdido el norte,
El este, el oeste y el sur...
Qué pretenden con tantas hambrunas
Y pestes y guerras y muertes en serie,
Si todos estamos al albur
De la intemperie.

Y así voy sorteando tumbas son el santo y seña,
Huérfano de estrellas que me indiquen algún sol,
Pero ya no hay luz, ni fuego, ni siquiera leña,
Ni la noche melancólica del girasol.

Y aunque sé que ya no existen mapas inocentes
Voy a la deriva como va mi poca fe
En creer que puedo huir de la Hidra Inteligente,
Ese Pandemónium del Poder que nadie ve.

Leads me, when it ends, to another desert.

But I keep walking in search of a mirage
In case one of them is the sea,

Nor the melancholy night of the sunflower.

And although I know that there are no more innocent maps
I drift as my little faith drifts,
In believing that I can escape the Intelligent Hydra,
That Pandemonium of Power that no one sees.
