"Aight, he's done, there's no way he can do it"
And then I heard The M-Food and I was like
"Ah, he did it again, he's gotta be
He's gotta be almost done"

Do you ever worry about like
"Man, I'm gonna run out of ways to say words"
Do you ever worry about writer's block?
Every time, like after every record
Like, you know what I mean?
It always happens
But then I, I don't know, you know, for a couple of months
I might be stuck in that zone

And my wife would tell you, she'd be like
"Yo, every time I say the same thing"
"Yo, I don't know how I do it
What am I gonna do?"

Da-da-da-da-da-da, I go on for months
Then I'll strip it down to the basic format
It's like, yo, the English language is so vast
Not to mention the different dialects of slang that's involved

Plus, when you get other languages mixed with English
And their dialects and slangs that came from the, uh, like
People migrating into America, you know what I'm saying?
From the Irish to all the different types of people
You know what I'm saying?

There's no way you're gonna run out of stupid shit to say
You know what I'm saying?
And that's really what it's based on, it's like
Something that can make somebody laugh
That we can all relate to
But it's a real thing, you know what I'm saying?

Almost like how standard comedians do it
So it's like if you base it on real life
And things that happen naturally in life
It's forever, so, you know
It's just a matter of not thinking too hard about it
And I just gotta keep a pen and pad around me
For when I get those little stupid thoughts
And write them down, you know what I mean?

Right, okay
But yeah, I think it's a never-ending stream of it
But it's even now
It's like I don't know what I'm gonna say on the next album

But I know that I'll catch enough good ones
I got enough time and I'll do my research
You know what I'm saying?
I think I have more faith in it now

Schreibblockaden überwinden

Jedes Mal, wenn ich so etwas wie 'Wingin' New Records' höre oder so,
bin ich immer beeindruckt davon, wie du, einfach so,
die Worte verweben kannst
und es so mühelos und nahtlos erscheinen lässt.
Und ich denke mir, okay, er ist raus.
Es gibt keine Möglichkeit, dass du noch ein Album schreiben kannst
und es wieder tun kannst.
Und dann, bäm!

Ja, dasselbe habe ich auch gedacht.
Ich dachte: "Er ist fertig."
Ich hörte Victor Vaughn und dachte: "Okay."
Und ich hörte Don Mather und dachte:
"Okay, er ist fertig, er kann es unmöglich wieder tun."
Und dann hörte ich The M-Food und dachte:
"Ah, er hat es wieder geschafft, er muss
Er muss fast fertig sein."

Machst du dir jemals Sorgen darüber,
"Mann, mir gehen die Arten aus, Worte zu sagen"?
Machst du dir jemals Sorgen über Schreibblockaden?
Jedes Mal, nach jeder Platte.
Verstehst du, was ich meine?
Es passiert immer.
Aber dann, ich weiß nicht, weißt du, für ein paar Monate
bin ich vielleicht in dieser Zone gefangen.

Und meine Frau würde dir sagen, sie würde sagen:
"Yo, jedes Mal sage ich dasselbe."
"Yo, ich weiß nicht, wie ich das mache.
Was soll ich tun?"

Da-da-da-da-da-da, ich mache monatelang so weiter.
Dann reduziere ich es auf das Grundformat.
Es ist so, yo, die englische Sprache ist so umfangreich.
Ganz zu schweigen von den verschiedenen Slang-Dialekten, die es gibt.

Und wenn man dann noch andere Sprachen mit Englisch mischt
und deren Dialekte und Slangs, die von, äh, Leuten kamen,
die nach Amerika eingewandert sind, verstehst du, was ich meine?
Von den Iren bis zu all den verschiedenen Arten von Menschen.
Verstehst du, was ich meine?

Es ist unmöglich, dass dir der dumme Scheiß ausgeht, den du sagen kannst.
Verstehst du, was ich meine?
Und darauf basiert es wirklich, es ist wie
etwas, das jemanden zum Lachen bringen kann,
womit wir uns alle identifizieren können.
Aber es ist eine reale Sache, verstehst du, was ich meine?

Fast so, wie es Stand-up-Comedians machen.
Wenn man es also auf das reale Leben basiert
und Dinge, die im Leben natürlich passieren,
ist es für immer, also, weißt du,
es ist nur eine Frage, nicht zu viel darüber nachzudenken.
Und ich muss einfach einen Stift und einen Block bei mir haben,
für wenn ich diese kleinen dummen Gedanken bekomme
und sie aufschreibe, verstehst du, was ich meine?

Richtig, okay.
Aber ja, ich denke, es ist ein endloser Strom davon.
Aber selbst jetzt
weiß ich nicht, was ich auf dem nächsten Album sagen werde.

Aber ich weiß, dass ich genug gute Sachen erwischen werde.
Ich habe genug Zeit und ich werde meine Recherchen machen.
Verstehst du, was ich meine?
Ich denke, ich habe jetzt mehr Vertrauen darin.
