No pudo resistirlo más

Apenas sintió nada cuando cayó
El domador que regresaba
Fué el primero que le vió

Logró salvar la vida y un mes más tarde, le dijerón:
"Todo ha terminado
El circo ha cerrado
Ya no venían niños a la función"

Hoy vive retirado en algún lugar, en las afueras
Pegado día y noche a su silla de ruedas
Parece que ha terminado aceptándose por fín
Incluso algunas veces toca el violín

Díez niños le visitan y le hacen feliz
Cuando les ve llegar a lo lejos
Se pinta la nariz

Y cuando alguno se burla con desprecio, él contesta:
"Sería un miserable
Sería yo el culpable

He had the knack of making a child laugh, just one of those kids
His gags were so perfectly timed, only he could pull them off
His face was painted with colors, and in his hand he carried a violin
The violin sounded okay, but it got the laughs

The truth is that deep down, he was very unhappy
Painting his nose red was ridiculous to him
There was more glory in a back-flip
And he wanted

To work as an acrobat, and hear
Standing ovations from the audience
Instead of making people laugh

He never mastered the art of accepting his role, because he didn't realize
That he was making so many people happy, as the lead in Cinderella
That if he ever left the circus, it would be the end
That it would never be the same, without his violin

But he was determined to stay unhappy
Looking ridiculous with his painted nose
He still dreamed of the trapeze
He planned

To work as an acrobat, and hear
Standing ovations from the audience
Instead of making people laugh

It was one cold, white winter morning
After practice
He just couldn't take it anymore
He climbed the tightrope

And when he saw himself from up high
He felt vertigo creeping up his spine
And they had forgotten to set out the safety net
For the last time

He didn't feel a thing when he fell
The animal trainer who was coming back
Was the first to see him

He was able to save his life and a month later, they said:
"It's all over,
The circus has closed,
No more children are coming to the show"

Now he lives in retirement, somewhere out in the sticks
Glued to his wheelchair, day and night
It seems that he's finally come around to accepting himself
Sometimes he even plays the violin

Ten children visit him and make him happy
When he sees them coming, far off
He paints his nose red

And when some of them taunt him cruelly, he answers:
"I'd be despicable,
I'd be the one to blame,
If I didn't fulfill the mission I was given."

Because even though I failed, my profession
