Hey everybody,
This is Chris Motionless and welcome to
The Spotify commentary for graveyard shift.
We thought would be a really cool idea to do a Spotify commentary for
The one-year anniversary of the album and be able to speak about the
Songs in a slightly different way than we would
If we had recorded it for the original release date.
I think it's really cool to be able to look back and also talk about
Some of the reactions to the songs now after the fact and just
Our overall feelings about the songs in the album A year later.
So thank you guys for being here to listen to the audio
Commentary in honor of the one-year anniversary of graveyard shift.
So one year later, how you feeling about the album, Ricky?
I feel great.
I think that it's that I feel pretty close to exactly the same way.
I felt when I first came out,
I mean I still like every song I still listen to the album
Every once in a while and the song still feel fairly fresh.
Some I feel like sometimes when I go back and
Listen to older stuff, there's things that I pick out.
Last like shit.
I wish I Did this differently?
I think what's actually been the coolest
Thing for me is just to see how the songs.
Alive, I think that sounds like it sounds great as a recording but
I feel like the song is really come to life when we play them live.
I've never felt that with an entire album that we've done in the past.
This this is the only album that
We've actually played every song live.
But even with the previous albums everything that we played there's
Always those hit-or-miss tracks,
But even the ones on the graveyard shift that aren't the bigger songs
Still go over so well live it like there's not that dead zone in the
Set list where everyone just kind of stands there like zombies and
Still keeps like sound like hourglass still had keeps that Vibe and
Keeps the groove and keeps the crowd into it and it's been really
Cool to see these songs really come to life for me when we play them
Live and give him such another
Dimension and we were able to get on the records.
Is there a song that was maybe your favorite in
The beginning that has been overruled by another one?
I feel like like going into the
Recording process that really liked soft biggest.
I think I know that I liked eternally yours.
Not changed But by necessary evil So much more like I was thought
Like damn this one's this one's a banger and
Super heavy but playing it live just made me feel.
Just so much better about it.
And like there was that stress of like manner
People even going to get this and think it's cooler.
It's just gonna be the most hated song.

Looked at album as the success that we were trying to accomplish and
It's great to see them that you look
At those Spotify plays all the songs.
I think the last thing to mention here before we go any further is
That we're the way that we're going to do this commentary is that
We're not really focusing on how
Long each track is as you can see there.
Some of them are really long.
But whenever I was to Spotify commentaries and there a minute and a
Half long with barely any information or background to the song as I
Just kind of feel like I just wanted to hear so much more and I just
Really like a really deep backgrounds
Of things if that's what I'm looking for.
And we just have so much to say about these songs and there's a lot
That goes into the creation of them musically and lyrically,
And there's a lot about what they mean to us and I feel like we just
We just really want to give a full explanation of these songs and let
You know where we were at writing them and not really care about the
Tracks are so hopefully you guys can get
Through it and We'll see you on the other side.

Hallo zusammen,
Hier ist Chris Motionless und willkommen zum
Spotify-Kommentar für Graveyard Shift.
Wir dachten, es wäre eine wirklich coole Idee, einen Spotify-Kommentar zu machen für
das einjährige Jubiläum des Albums und über die
Songs auf eine etwas andere Weise sprechen zu können, als wir es
getan hätten, wenn wir ihn zum ursprünglichen Veröffentlichungsdatum aufgenommen hätten.
Ich finde es wirklich cool, zurückblicken zu können und auch über
einige der Reaktionen auf die Songs jetzt im Nachhinein zu sprechen und einfach
unsere allgemeinen Gefühle zu den Songs auf dem Album ein Jahr später.

Kommentar zu Ehren des einjährigen Jubiläums von Graveyard Shift anzuhören.
Also, ein Jahr später, wie fühlst du dich bezüglich des Albums, Ricky?
Ich fühle mich großartig.
Ich denke, dass ich mich ziemlich genau gleich fühle.
Wie ich mich fühlte, als es herauskam,
Ich meine, ich mag immer noch jeden Song, ich höre das Album immer noch
ab und zu an und die Songs fühlen sich immer noch ziemlich frisch an.
Manchmal habe ich das Gefühl, wenn ich zurückgehe und
ältere Sachen anhöre, gibt es Dinge, die mir auffallen,
bei denen ich denke: Scheiße,
ich wünschte, ich hätte das anders gemacht.
Ich denke, was eigentlich das Coolste
für mich war, ist einfach zu sehen, wie die Songs
lebendig werden. Ich denke, das klingt als Aufnahme großartig, aber
ich habe das Gefühl, dass die Songs erst richtig zum Leben erwachen, wenn wir sie live spielen.
Das habe ich noch nie bei einem ganzen Album gefühlt, das wir in der Vergangenheit gemacht haben.
Dies ist das einzige Album, bei dem
wir tatsächlich jeden Song live gespielt haben.
Aber selbst bei den vorherigen Alben gab es bei allem, was wir gespielt haben,
immer diese "Hit-or-Miss"-Tracks,
Aber selbst die auf Graveyard Shift, die nicht die größeren Songs sind,
kommen live immer noch so gut an, es gibt nicht diese tote Zone in der
Setlist, wo jeder nur irgendwie wie Zombies dasteht und
Songs wie Hourglass halten immer noch diese Stimmung und
halten den Groove und halten das Publikum bei Laune, und es war wirklich
cool zu sehen, wie diese Songs für mich wirklich zum Leben erwachen, wenn wir sie
live spielen und ihnen eine solche andere
Dimension geben, die wir auf den Aufnahmen erreichen konnten.
Gibt es einen Song, der vielleicht dein Favorit war am
Anfang, der von einem anderen übertroffen wurde?
Ich glaube, als wir in den
Aufnahmeprozess gingen, mochte ich, sagen wir, die 'softeren' Sachen am meisten.
Ich glaube, ich weiß, dass ich Eternally Yours mochte.
Das hat sich nicht geändert, aber Necessary Evil mag ich so viel mehr, als ich dachte
wie 'Verdammt, der hier ist ein Knaller' und
super heavy, aber ihn live zu spielen, hat mich einfach fühlen lassen.
einfach so viel besser deswegen.
Und es gab diesen Stress, so nach dem Motto
Werden die Leute das überhaupt verstehen und cool finden?
Wird es nur der meistgehasste Song sein?
Australien
haben das Album als den Erfolg angesehen, den wir erreichen wollten, und
es ist großartig zu sehen, dass, wenn man sich
diese Spotify-Plays all der Songs ansieht.
Ich denke, das Letzte, was hier zu erwähnen ist, bevor wir weitermachen, ist,
dass die Art und Weise, wie wir diesen Kommentar machen werden, die ist, dass
wir uns nicht wirklich darauf konzentrieren, wie
lang jeder Track ist, wie ihr sehen könnt.
Einige von ihnen sind wirklich lang.
Aber wann immer ich Spotify-Kommentare hörte und sie anderthalb
Minuten lang waren mit kaum Informationen oder Hintergrund zum Song, hatte ich
einfach das Gefühl, ich wollte so viel mehr hören und ich mag einfach
wirklich tiefe Hintergründe
von Dingen, wenn es das ist, wonach ich suche.
Und wir haben einfach so viel über diese Songs zu sagen, und es steckt viel
in ihrer Entstehung, musikalisch und textlich,
und es gibt viel darüber, was sie uns bedeuten, und ich habe das Gefühl, wir
wollen einfach eine vollständige Erklärung dieser Songs geben und
euch wissen lassen, wo wir standen, als wir sie schrieben, und uns nicht wirklich darum kümmern, wie lang die
Tracks sind, also hoffentlich schafft ihr es
dadurch, und wir sehen uns auf der anderen Seite.
