O Pilotos Nagel

Ο Νάγκαλ Χάρμπορ, Νορβηγός πιλότος στο Κολόμπο,
άμα έδινε κανονική πορεία στα καράβια
που φεύγαν για άγνωστους και μακρινούς λιμένες,
κατέβαινε στη βάρκα του βαρύς, συλλογισμένος.
Με τα χοντρά τα χέρια του στο στήθος σταυρωμένα,
καπνίζοντας ένα παλιό χωμάτινο τσιμπούκι,
και σε μια γλώσσα βορινή σιγά μονολογώντας
έφευγε μόλις χάνονταν ολότελα τα πλοία.

Ο Νάγκελ Χάρμπορ, πλοίαρχος σε φορτηγά καράβια,
αφού τον κόσμο γύρισεν ολόκληρο, μια μέρα
κουράστηκε κι απόμεινε πιλότος στο Κολόμπο.
Μα πάντα συλλογιζόταν τη μακρινή του χώρα
και τα νησιά που 'ναι γεμάτα θρύλους, τα Λοφούτεν.
Όμως μια μέρα επέθανε στην πιλοτίνα μέσα
ξάφνου σαν ξεπροβόδισεν το Steamer Tank Fjord Folden
όπου έφευγε καπνίζοντας για τα νησιά Λοφούτεν...

The Pilot Nagel

Nagel Harbor, a Norwegian pilot in Colombo,
if he gave normal course to the ships
that were leaving for unknown and remote ports,
he descended to his boat heavy, thoughtful.
With his thick hands crossed on his chest,
smoking an old earthen pipe,
and in a northern language slowly monologuing
he left as soon as the ships were completely lost.

Nagel Harbor, captain on freighters,
after he travelled the whole world, one day
he got tired and remained a pilot in Colombo.
But he always thought of his distant country
and the islands which are full of myths, the Lofoten.
However, one day he died in the pilot's cabin
suddenly as he saw off the Steamer Tank Fjord Folden
where he left smoking for the Lofoten islands...
