The Foolish Frog (Remastered)

There was once a farmer, walking down the road whistling a tune to himself.
He said, "
Dog-gone, I wish I had some words to that tune.
But all I've got is the melody." Just then he came to a little bridge, and he leaned on the railing looking down at the brook.
There was a big old bullfrog, hopping from bank to bank. (Sound effects).
Well, the bullfrog looked up and saw the farmer and decided to show off.
He took an extra special big hop - z-z-z-z-tt!
He landed, splash!
In the water and got himself all wet.
The farmer laughed and laughed and started singing:
Way down south in the yankety-yank, a bull frog jumped from bank to bank, just because he'd nothing better for to do!
He stubbed his toe and fell in the water; you could hear him yell for a mile and a quarter, just because he'd nothing better for to do."
Now the farmer went walking down the road feeling mighty proud of himself for making up a song.
He went down to the corner store, bought himself some groceries, a pair of work gloves and a plug of chewing tobacco, and said, "
Oh, before I go, I have to sing you my new song."
Go on home," says the storekeeper, "
I'm busy here, can't you see all these customers?"
I won't pay you any money unless you let me sing you my song!"
Well, sing it and get it over with then," said the storekeeper.
The farmer began to sing and the man in the store cried out, "
That's a w-o-o-nderful song, gather round everybody, we'll have a party." And he passed round the free Coca Colas and the free soda-crackers, and everyone was stamping on the floor.
Meanwhile, all the wives and children back home were sitting down to supper, and - where's father?
The mother said, "
Children, you better run down to the corner store and fetch your old man.
He's probably down there wasting his time as usual."
So all the children run down the road.
They run inside the corner store.
You know, they heard all that music, they forgot about coming home.
The children started singing (Song is repeated in a higher voice) And they were passing around the free Coca-Colas and ...
Now, in every farmhouse it was the same situation.
The mother said to themselves, "
This has gone far enough.
Supper's getting cold. '
Spect us to work all the day nobody show up?"
They reached over on the stove and grabbed some heavy frying pans and start down the road with a mad look in their eyes.
Somebody's going to get beaned.
Well, they get near and they hear all that pretty music, and they forget all about being mad.
They drop the frying pans in the gutter, walk into the store, and the mothers start singing!
Way down yonder in the yankety-yank, a bullfrog jumped from bank to bank ...
And they're passing round the free Coca-Colas and the free soda crackers, and everybody is stamping on the floor!
Meanwhile out in the barns all the cows started talking, "
Where is everybody?
We're supposed to be milked and it's getting mighty uncomfortable!" So the cows left their stalls, they wobbled out of the barn, and down the road right into the corner store.
And the cows started singing, "
Moo, moo, moo, moo, moo moo, moo, moo, moo, moo." (To the tune).
And the cow's tails were swishing out the windows, and they were stamping on the floor, and drinking the free Coca-Colas and eating the free soda ...
Out in the barnyard all the chickens said, "
Where is everybody?
We're supposed to be fed and we're getting hungry!" So the chickens hopped over the fence, hopped down the road, hopped into the store, and the chickens started; (Chicken imitation to tune).
And the chicken were stamping on the floor and drinking the free Coca C ...
Meanwhile all the barns started talking to each other. "
We feel mighty lonely," they said, "without any cows or any chickens.
I guess we'll have to go find them." So the barns picked themselves off their foundations and galumphed down the road, and s-q-u-e-e-z-e-d themselves into that corner store, believe it or not.
Did you ever hear a rusty hinge on a barn door?
That's the way the barns sang: Eeeee, eeeeeeeeee.
Out in the fields all the grass says, "
Where is everybody?
The cows are supposed to come and eat us.
I guess we'll have to go find them." And the grass picked itself up and swished off down the road, and swished right into the store and started singing: Sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh.
Sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh.
Of course, when the grass was gone, the fields were gone, so the brook didn't have any banks to flow between.
It said, "
I've got to go someplace," so it bubbled down the road.
It bubbled right up into the corner store and the brook started: Bubbl-bubbl-bubbl-bubbl-bubbl-bubbl-bubbl.
The brook was bubbling up and down the stairway!
The grass was growing out the chimney!
Feathers flying through the air!
Cows tails swishing through the windows!
Everybody stamping on the floor and drinking the free Coca-Cola and eating the free soda-crackers!
Meanwhile, there's the bullfrog in mid-air!
He looks down, there's nothing underneath him.
He looks over and there's no bank to land on.
He says, "
Where am I?" And he starts hopping down the road.
Hop!
Hop!
Hop!
Hop!
Hop!
Hey, what's all that racket down at the corner store?" says the frog.
Why ...
They're singing!
They're singing about ME!" And he was so proud he puffed himself up with pride.
And he puffed, and he puffed, and he puffed, and he BOOM!
He exploded.
Cows, barns, chickens, farmers, the whole corner store went up in the air, and everybody floated down and landed right where they were supposed to have been all the time.
They all sat down eating supper again, feeling kind of foolish for themselves.
Next day they went out to find the frog.
They looked high, they looked low.
Coca-Cola bottles and soda crackers in all directions.
But no frog.
So all there is left of the frog is the song.
We might as well sing 'er once again.
Way down yonder in the yankety-yank..."

La Grenouille Insensée (Remasterisée)

Il était une fois un fermier qui marchait sur la route en sifflotant un air.
Il se dit :«
Bon sang, j'aimerais bien avoir des paroles pour cette mélodie.
Mais je n'ai que la mélodie. » À cet instant, il arriva à un petit pont et s'appuya sur la balustrade en regardant le ruisseau.
Il y avait une grosse grenouille-taureau qui sautait d'une berge à l'autre. (Effets sonores).
Eh bien, la grenouille-taureau leva les yeux, vit le fermier et décida de se montrer.
Elle fit un saut particulièrement grand - z-z-z-z-tt !
Elle atterrit, splash !
Dans l'eau et elle fut toute mouillée.
Le fermier rit beaucoup et se mit à chanter :
Tout au sud dans le yankety-yank, une grenouille-taureau a sauté d'une rive à l'autre, juste parce qu'elle n'avait rien de mieux à faire !
Elle s'est cogné l'orteil et est tombée à l'eau ; on pouvait l'entendre crier à un kilomètre à la ronde, juste parce qu'elle n'avait rien de mieux à faire. »
Le fermier continua son chemin sur la route, très fier de lui d'avoir composé une chanson.
Il descendit à l'épicerie du coin, acheta des provisions, une paire de gants de travail et une chique de tabac à mâcher, et dit :«
Oh, avant de partir, je dois vous chanter ma nouvelle chanson. »
« Rentre chez toi », dit l'épicier, «
Je suis occupé ici, tu ne vois pas tous ces clients ?»
« Je ne vous paierai pas si vous ne me laissez pas vous chanter ma chanson !»
« Eh bien, chante-la et finissons-en », dit l'épicier.
Le fermier commença à chanter et l'homme dans le magasin s'écria :«
C'est une chanson m-e-r-veilleuse, rassemblez-vous tous, on va faire la fête. » Et il distribua des Coca-Cola et des biscuits apéritifs gratuits, et tout le monde tapait du pied.
Pendant ce temps, toutes les femmes et les enfants restés à la maison étaient assis à table, et - où est papa ?
La mère dit :«
Les enfants, vous feriez mieux d'aller à l'épicerie du coin chercher votre vieux.
Il est probablement en train de perdre son temps comme d'habitude. »
Alors tous les enfants coururent sur la route.
Ils coururent à l'intérieur de l'épicerie.
Vous savez, ils ont entendu toute cette musique, ils ont oublié de rentrer à la maison.
Les enfants se mirent à chanter (La chanson est répétée d'une voix plus aiguë). Et ils distribuaient des Coca-Cola gratuits et ...
Or, dans chaque ferme, la situation était la même.
Les mères se dirent :«
Ça suffit.
Le souper refroidit.
On est censées travailler toute la journée et personne ne se pointe ?»
Elles attrapèrent de lourdes poêles à frire sur le poêle et descendirent la route avec un regard furieux.
Quelqu'un allait se faire assommer.
Eh bien, elles s'approchèrent et entendirent toute cette jolie musique, et elles oublièrent complètement leur colère.
Elles laissèrent tomber les poêles à frire dans le caniveau, entrèrent dans le magasin, et les mères se mirent à chanter !
Tout au fond du yankety-yank, une grenouille-taureau a sauté d'une rive à l'autre ...
Et ils distribuaient des Coca-Cola et des biscuits apéritifs gratuits, et tout le monde tapait du pied !
Pendant ce temps, dans les granges, toutes les vaches se mirent à parler :«
Où est tout le monde ?
On est censées être traites et ça devient très inconfortable !» Alors les vaches quittèrent leurs stalles, sortirent de la grange en titubant et descendirent la route jusqu'à l'épicerie du coin.
Et les vaches se mirent à chanter :«
Meuh, meuh, meuh, meuh, meuh, meuh, meuh, meuh, meuh. » (Sur l'air de la chanson).
Et les queues des vaches sortaient par les fenêtres, et elles tapaient du pied, et buvaient les Coca-Cola gratuits et mangeaient les biscuits apéritifs gratuits...
Dans la basse-cour, tous les poulets dirent :«
Où est tout le monde ?
On est censés être nourris et on a faim !» Alors les poulets sautèrent par-dessus la clôture, descendirent la route en sautillant, entrèrent dans le magasin et les poulets commencèrent : (Imitation de poulet sur l'air de la chanson).
Et les poulets tapaient du pied et buvaient les Coca-Cola gratuits...
Pendant ce temps, toutes les granges se mirent à se parler. «
On se sent bien seules », dirent-elles, « sans les vaches ni les poulets.
On devrait aller les chercher. » Alors les granges se détachèrent de leurs fondations et descendirent la route en cahotant, et se f-o-u-r-r-e-r-e-n-t dans cette épicerie du coin, croyez-le ou non.
Avez-vous déjà entendu un gond rouillé sur la porte d'une grange ?
C'est ainsi que les granges chantaient : Iiiiiiiiih, iiiiiiiiiiiiih.
Dehors, dans les champs, toute l'herbe dit :«
Où est tout le monde ?
Les vaches sont censées venir nous manger.
On devrait aller les chercher. » Et l'herbe se releva et descendit la route en ondulant, et s'engouffra dans le magasin et se mit à chanter : Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch.
Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch.
Bien sûr, quand l'herbe fut partie, les champs disparurent, et le ruisseau n'eut plus de berges entre lesquelles couler.
Il dit :«
Je dois aller quelque part », alors il descendit la route en bouillonnant.
Il entra dans l'épicerie en bouillonnant et le ruisseau se mit à chanter : Bloub-bloub-bloub-bloub-bloub-bloub-bloub.
Le ruisseau bouillonnait dans l'escalier !
L'herbe poussait par la cheminée !
Des plumes volaient dans les airs !
Des queues de vaches passaient par les fenêtres !
Tout le monde tapait du pied et buvait les Coca-Cola gratuits et mangeait les biscuits apéritifs gratuits !
Pendant ce temps, la grenouille-taureau était en plein vol !
Elle regarda en bas, il n'y avait rien en dessous.
Elle regarda autour d'elle et il n'y avait aucune rive où atterrir.
Elle dit :«
Où suis-je ?» Et elle se mit à sauter sur la route.
Hop !
Hop !
Hop !
Hop !
Hop !
« Hé, c'est quoi tout ce ramdam à l'épicerie ? », dit la grenouille.
Mais...
Ils chantent !
Ils chantent à propos de MOI !» Et elle était si fière qu'elle se gonfla de fierté.
Et elle se gonfla, et elle se gonfla, et elle se gonfla, et elle BOUM !
Elle explosa.
Les vaches, les granges, les poulets, les fermiers, toute l'épicerie du coin s'envolèrent, et tout le monde retomba à l'endroit où il était censé être depuis le début.
Ils s'assirent tous pour dîner, se sentant un peu bêtes.
Le lendemain, ils allèrent chercher la grenouille.
Ils cherchèrent partout.
Des bouteilles de Coca-Cola et des biscuits apéritifs dans toutes les directions.
Mais pas de grenouille.
Il ne reste donc de la grenouille que la chanson.
Autant la chanter une fois de plus.
Tout au fond du yankety-yank... »
