Tombstone

down in the cit by the bay
where the city force meets the ocean god
struggling to keep the balance safe
between greed and love
my heart always looked to the sea
as it would beat within the walls
no chance of breaking free
just pounding on the walls

I got too weak for my own weight
lost body control
broken by the concrete ground
my feet gave in in the dark
this would overcome me
'till I couldn't walk and I lost the beat
knowing that my heart was on the way
to meet the ocean gods

I will not only be a memory and a tombstone
you know that living isn't even half the fun
even if death feels wrong
it keeps us moving...

I'll wait here for you
until the rain is down
here I am
in this no place at all
until it gets you
just like a birth in reverse

facing down I shook
cold and scared of my own look
struggling to keep my head up
to watch the sun go down
it's weird how it goes away
and it appears for someone else
night time, day time
we need both to keep the balance safe

I was too weak for my own good
I would leave the body soon
infected, poisoned, fading grey
nothing I could do
but hold my head up straight
with will and serenity

letting go of me

I will not only be resting in a cemetery

eaten up by maggots

Grabstein

unten in der Stadt an der Bucht
wo Stadtgewalt auf Meeresgott trifft
kämpfend, das Gleichgewicht zu wahren
zwischen Gier und Liebe
mein Herz blickte stets zum Meer
wie es innerhalb der Mauern schlug
keine Chance auf Befreiung
nur Hämmern gegen die Wände

Ich war zu schwach für mein Gewicht
verlor die Körperkontrolle
vom Betonboden zerschmettert
meine Füße versagten im Dunkeln
dies würde mich überwältigen
bis ich nicht laufen konnte und den Takt verlor
wissend, dass mein Herz unterwegs war
zu den Meeresgöttern

Ich werde nicht nur Erinnerung und ein Grabstein sein
du weißt, Leben ist nicht mal halb so lustig
selbst wenn sich der Tod falsch anfühlt
hält er uns in Bewegung...

Ich warte hier auf dich
bis der Regen aufhört
hier bin ich
an diesem Nicht-Ort
bis es dich erwischt
wie eine Geburt rückwärts
hier bin ich

Nach unten blickend zitterte ich
kalt und voll Angst vor meinem Anblick
kämpfend, den Kopf oben zu halten
um den Sonnenuntergang zu sehen
seltsam wie er verschwindet
und für andere erscheint
Nachtzeit, Tageszeit
wir brauchen beide, das Gleichgewicht zu wahren

Ich war zu schwach für mein Wohl
bald würde ich den Körper verlassen
infiziert, vergiftet, verblassend grau
nichts konnte ich tun
außer den Kopf hochhalten
mit Willen und Gelassenheit
(dann) spürte ich mein Körpergewicht
das mich losließ

Ich werde nicht nur auf einem Friedhof ruhen
in einer Kiste, die nicht mehr aufgeht
von Maden verzehrt
ein toter Körper ist kein Mann
Ich werde nicht nur Erinnerung und ein Grabstein sein
du weißt, Leben ist nicht mal halb so lustig
und selbst wenn sich der Tod falsch anfühlt
hält er uns in Bewegung...
