I tried for years to keep my hope alive

The good inside came bleeding out till none of it remained

But I was blinded by the light that beckoned through my bars

Des années durant, j'ai gardé espoir en vie,
J'ai juré, contre toute attente, que je survivrais.
Le bien en moi s'est vidé jusqu'à ce qu'il n'en reste plus rien,
Et la colère est la seule chose qui m'est restée.

J'ai senti les coups, mes entrailles brûler,
Et tandis qu'ils me brisaient, j'ai appris,
Que l'espoir est plus cruel qu'une myriade de cicatrices,
Mais j'étais aveuglé par la lumière qui me faisait signe à travers mes barreaux.

J'ai enfreint les règles et osé faire confiance à mon cœur,

J'ai essayé de donner au monde le meilleur de moi-même,

Et la rage est tout ce que j'ai trouvé pour combler le vide.
