Gibt es natürlich unter den schönen Erinnerungen auch eine
Die sich auch mit zunehmendem Abstand
Und je mehr sie in die Vergangenheit rückt
Doch nicht so recht verklären und vergolden will
Und es bleibt nach wie vor eine rabenschwarze Erinnerung
Und es ist der Gedanke an die 14 Jahre
In denen ich die verschiedenen Schulbänke in dieser Stadt gedrückt habe

Ich denke, bereits aus der Zahl 14
Kann man sehen, dass ich das mit besonderem Nachdruck
Und besonders sorgfältig getan habe, und
Tja, ′ne ganze Weile hab ich mich deswegen geschämt
Bis ich festgestellt habe, dass ich dieses Schicksal
Mit Leuten wie Albert Einstein, Wernher von Braun, Nietzsche
Und Thomas Mann glaub ich auch, und noch 'ne ganze Reihe mehr, teile

Also jedenfalls denk ich
Mein ich, dass wir Sitzenbleiber in ganz guter Gesellschaft sind
Also, wirklich keinen Grund zum Komplex mehr

Wenn ich zurückdenke, bleibt eigentlich nur
Erinnerung an einen einzigen schönen Tag
In diesen 14 Jahren, und das war, ja, und
Das sollte sich auch erst im Nachhinein herausstellen
Das war paradoxer Weiße nämlich noch zu allem Überfluss
Ein Zeugnistag

Ich denke, ich muss so zwölf Jahre alt gewesen sein
Und wieder einmal war es Zeugnistag
Nur diesmal, dacht ich, bricht das Schulhaus samt Dachgestühl ein
Als meines weiß und hässlich vor mir lag

Dabei waren meine Hoffnungen keineswegs hochgeschraubt
Ich war ein fauler Hund und obendrein
Höchst eigenwillig, doch trotzdem hätte ich nie geglaubt
So ein totaler Versager zu sein

"So, jetzt ist es passiert", dacht ich mir: "Jetzt ist alles aus"
Nicht einmal eine Vier in Religion
Oh Mann, mit diesem Zeugnis kommst du besser nicht nach Haus
Sondern allenfalls zur Fremdenlegion

Ich zeigt es meinen Eltern nicht und unterschrieb für sie

Dann ließ er meine Eltern kommen, lehnte sich zurück
Voll Selbstgerechtigkeit genoss er schon
Die Maulschellen für den Betrüger, das missratene Stück

Mein Vater nahm das Zeugnis in die Hand und sah mich an

Ganz anderen Gebiet gelegen haben, und das hätte mich getröstet
