He jumps up in my face

So I throw an overhand right and a hook

This nigga falls to the ground asleep

And then I run up on the nigga that
He was with that was also talkin' shit

This nigga Vish just threw the basketball
And hit him in the face hard as fuck, 'boom!'
Now if he was about to say something tough,
He must have just changed his mind 'cause
That nigga turned around and broke running
All I heard that nigga saying was, "I don't want a problem"

And right when I was thinking to myself, 'where the fuck is Greg at?'
I'm reminded of why I never call him when there's a problem
He got this thing about protectin' Ryan, he just kinda overdo shit
So the next thing that happened in my mind, went like this:

Greg flew into the picture,
Possibly from out of the sky, I think he was wearing a cape
He landed infront of me like 'duhn duhn dah duhn'
With a knife in his hand,
With the handle taped up that he had been keeping under his
Front driver's seat in his car the whole time and nobody knew

This nigga just blacked out and started
Swinging the knife at the dude I dropped
'Swoosh swoosh swoosh' "I'mma kill you mother fucker!"
And start cuttin' the nigga
I had to grab him like, "Greggy,
What are you doing? Don't kill this nigga!"
The whole park just went silent

And then the silence gets broken by police sirens
And all you hear from each way is people going,
"Greg throw the knife on the roof!
Greg throw the knife in the pool! Get rid of the knife, Greg!"
And he drops the bloody knife right in the grass
I look at him, he looks back at me

Prison bars just come in between us and surrounds him completely
My mother and father just outta nowhere pops into the picture
And I said, "You ain't have to try to kill him Greggy"
My mother and father, "Why you have to try and kill him Greggy?"
He said, "I was protecting Ryan!"

And then he went to prison and started writing letters home
"Dear Momma
I'm so sorry
All I was doing was protectin' Ryan"

And then he came home
"Ryan got a record deal, did you hear, Greg?"
"Yeah, I deal with a record everyday that
I got for calling myself protecting Ryan."
"But you ain't have to call his wife a bitch right to her face"
"See here we go again, don't nobody never see my side of the story.
Everytime I turn around, y'all either defending or protecting Ryan"

À l'époque où j'étais adolescent,
Moi, mon frère Vish,
Et mon frère Greg, on jouait au basket sur le terrain.

Il y avait ces deux mecs en général
Qui n'arrêtaient pas de faire des fautes, encore et encore.
Alors je suis monté pour un lay-up, je me suis dit "la balle, mec!"
Putain, ils disaient de la merde, je disais de la merde.
Il m'a sauté au visage.

Alors j'ai balancé un direct du droit et un crochet.
Salope! 'bam! bam!'
Ce mec est tombé au sol, endormi.
Tout ce que tu vois, c'est des Z, des petits oiseaux, des étoiles, tu entends tout ça.
Et puis je cours vers le mec avec qui
Il était, qui disait aussi de la merde.

J'ai dit "qu'est-ce qui se passe ?"
Dès que j'ai dit ça,
Ce mec, Vish, a juste lancé le ballon de basket
Et l'a frappé en plein visage, super fort, 'boum!'
S'il était sur le point de dire quelque chose de dur,
Il a dû changer d'avis parce que
Ce mec s'est retourné et s'est mis à courir.
Tout ce que j'ai entendu de la part de ce mec, c'est "Je ne veux pas d'ennuis".

Et juste au moment où je me disais "putain, mais où est Greg?"
Je me suis souvenu pourquoi je ne l'appelais jamais quand il y avait un problème.
Il a ce truc à propos de protéger Ryan, il a tendance à exagérer les choses.
Alors la chose suivante qui s'est passée dans ma tête, c'était comme ça:

Greg a surgi dans l'image,
Peut-être du ciel, je crois qu'il portait une cape.
Il a atterri devant moi comme 'doum doum dah doum'
Avec un couteau à la main,
Avec le manche recouvert de ruban adhésif qu'il gardait sous
Le siège conducteur de sa voiture depuis le début et que personne ne connaissait.

Ce mec a juste pété un câble et a commencé
À donner des coups de couteau au mec que j'avais mis à terre.
'Swish swoosh swoosh' "Je vais te tuer, enfoiré!"
Et il a commencé à poignarder le mec.
J'ai dû le saisir et lui dire: "Greggy,
Qu'est-ce que tu fais? Ne tue pas ce mec!"
Tout le parc est devenu silencieux.

Et puis le silence a été brisé par des sirènes de police.
Et tout ce qu'on entendait de chaque côté, c'était des gens qui disaient:
"Greg, jette le couteau sur le toit!
Greg, jette le couteau dans la piscine! Débarrasse-toi du couteau, Greg!"
Et il a laissé tomber le couteau ensanglant dans l'herbe.
Je l'ai regardé, il m'a regardé.

Des barreaux de prison sont apparus entre nous et l'ont complètement entouré.
Ma mère et mon père sont sortis de nulle part.
Et j'ai dit: "Tu n'avais pas besoin d'essayer de le tuer, Greggy."
Ma mère et mon père: "Pourquoi tu as essayé de le tuer, Greggy?"
Il a dit: "Je protégeais Ryan!"

Et puis il est allé en prison et a commencé à écrire des lettres à la maison.
"Chère maman,
Je suis vraiment désolé.
Tout ce que je faisais, c'était protéger Ryan."

Et puis il est rentré à la maison.
"Ryan a signé un contrat de disque, tu as entendu, Greg?"
"Ouais, je vis avec un casier judiciaire tous les jours
Que j'ai eu parce que je disais que je protégeais Ryan."
"Mais tu n'étais pas obligé de traiter sa femme de salope en face d'elle."
"Tu vois, on y est encore, personne ne voit jamais mon côté de l'histoire.
Chaque fois que je me retourne, vous êtes tous en train de défendre ou de protéger Ryan."
