J'ai pleuré après mon premier chagrin d'amour,
mes larmes d'adolescent coulaient sur mes draps.
J'ai trouvé du réconfort dans l'aiguille

J'ai pleuré comme dans un mélodrame télévisé.

Puis les choses ont changé,
je n'en parlerai pas beaucoup.
Des choses qui n'auraient pas dû être m'ont été révélées.
J'ai compris ce que la plupart n'ont jamais à savoir
et pendant 30 ans, pas de larmes,

Puis l'enfant en moi m'a tendu les bras,

loin de moi, le grondement a retenti une seconde plus tard
et mes yeux se sont brouillés d'eau,
lavant mes oreilles qui bourdonnaient. J'ai pleuré comme dans un mélodrame
pour tout ce qui était sacré et anéanti en moi,
pour ceux que je désirais tant revoir,
pour ce qui m'avait vaincu.
J'ai pleuré comme pour ne jamais oublier.
