Bedtime Story

There they huddled, seeking strength in each other
Two little children, frightened of the world
Monsters under the beds, stay far away from them

They held each other's hands, so the other wouldn't disappear
If they let go for a moment, the darkness would swallow them

One was small, together they were bigger
And they didn't need any fancier dreams
That one moment, and the beasts stayed away,
Who sought love but didn't seem to understand it
Arm in arm they moved outside, shadows followed,
Who tried to steal one of them for themselves
Look through the window, people in the light
They only needed each other, and the darkness stayed away

Morning came, they sat on a stump together
A beautiful flower drooped, nearby in the morning dew
The petals were in a bud, then they started to move
