Fell asleep last night with the T-V on. Oh, what a dream I had.
I dreamed I answered every single one of those late night mail order ads.

The doorbell rang all morning and into the afternoon.
I shook with fright as it rang all night to the light of the Master Card moon.
There was Parcel Post in the pantry, and UPS in the hall,
C O D's to the ceiling, and I just couldn't pay for it all.

I got the egg scrambler, with a Seal-a-Meal carrying case,
A set of presidential commemorative plates
So I could eat my eggs off the President's face,
A Minute Mender, and a needle that'll knit or crochet,
And an autographed photograph of Rin Tin Tin at Six Flags Over Burbank.

Ich schlief letzte Nacht mit dem Fernseher ein. Oh, was für einen Traum ich hatte.
Ich träumte, ich bestellte jeden einzelnen dieser Spätnachts-Werbespots.
Und vier bis sechs Wochen später, zu meiner Überraschung,
kam der Postbote zu meiner Haustür, und ich traute meinen Augen nicht,
als er die Vegematic brachte und den Pocket Fisherman dazu,
die beleuchtete, illustrierte Geschichte des Lebens,
und Boxcar Willie mit einem Ginzu-Messer,
einen Bambus-Dämpfer und einen Garden Weasel obendrein,
und ein tie-dyed, dayglow Souvenir-Shirt von Six Flags Over Burbank.

Die Türklingel läutete den ganzen Morgen bis in den Nachmittag hinein.
Ich zitterte vor Angst, als sie die ganze Nacht lang läutete im Licht des Master Card-Monds.
Da war Paketpost in der Speisekammer und UPS im Flur,
Nachnahmen bis zur Decke, und ich konnte einfach nicht alles bezahlen.

Ich bekam den Eierverquirler mit einer Seal-a-Meal-Tragetasche,
ein Set präsidiale Gedenktafeln,
damit ich meine Eier vom Gesicht des Präsidenten essen konnte,
einen Minute Mender und eine Nadel, die strickt oder häkelt,
und ein signiertes Foto von Rin Tin Tin bei Six Flags Over Burbank.
