The first record I ever got to be a part of that actually came out
And that was a local band that played around, um
The last couple of years of my high school
Um, Stretch Oklahoma City, and
They would go out and play all the different bars and clubs
A lot of the Bluegrassers back in those days wouldn't
Wouldn't be seen in, playing the beer joints and stuff and

And that was a fun band, and we made a record
And um, I remember I, I-I sang a John Stewart song called "July, You're a Woman"
And that's a pretty neat songs on that record and
Um, none of the musicians were incredible, you know ust fun
You know, it was a little, kind of a jug band-ish, bluegrass-ish
Kind of jug band, you know and, and um

I was driving on I-40 one day and my pickup truck and
And listening to the local radio station
All of a sudden, there came my voice, you know
Me playing the banjo and I heard my voice, and I was singing this song
I just couldn't believe it, you know

I can drive you to the spot, now that the interstate is gone
I can't drive you to the exact spot, but I know exactly where I was
And I had a CB radio in the, in the truck and I got on there, and I started yelling
Man, you're not gonna believe it
They're playing our song on the radio, you know, and
And these truckers were coming back, so you sound pretty good, kid, you know
Hang in there, whatever but

Um, what I remember most about, about that was
Recording something and having somebody kind of, uh, support it, you know
It gave, it gave a young kid, you know, just getting, getting his feet wet
It gave him hope
You know, that was, that was powerful, didn't know it at the time
But uh, it was just amazing that you thought if, you know
You gave me this hope
Then maybe I can do this, you know, maybe I can and
Um, it was really something, you know
It wasn't the greatest thing I've ever done, obviously, but a
It sure was a, it sure was a powerful, the gift that it gave me to press on

Je peux t'emmener sur place, maintenant que l'autoroute est partie
Je ne peux pas t'emmener exactement à l'endroit précis, mais je sais exactement où j'étais
Et j'avais une radio CB dans le, dans le camion et j'y suis allé, et j'ai commencé à crier
Mec, tu ne vas pas le croire
Ils passent notre chanson à la radio, tu sais, et
Et ces camionneurs revenaient, donc tu as une bonne voix, gamin, tu sais
Accroche-toi, quoi que ce soit, mais

Euh, ce dont je me souviens le plus, c'est
Enregistrement quelque chose et avoir quelqu'un qui, euh, le soutient, tu sais
Ça a donné, ça a donné à un jeune, tu sais, qui commençait à, à se faire les dents
Ça lui a donné de l'espoir
Tu sais, c'était, c'était puissant, je ne le savais pas à l'époque
Mais euh, c'était juste incroyable de penser que, tu sais
Tu m'as donné cet espoir
Alors peut-être que je peux le faire, tu sais, peut-être que je peux, et
Euh, c'était vraiment quelque chose, tu sais
Ce n'était pas la meilleure chose que j'aie jamais faite, évidemment, mais a
