tobyMac feat. Britt Nicole - Eye On It - Live Lyrics

Lyrics Eye On It - Live - tobyMac , Britt Nicole

Eye on it, eye on it, eye on it
(Eye on it, eye on it, eye on it)
I got my eye on it (eye on it)
I set my eyes to the West, walkin' away from it all
Reachin' for what lies ahead, I got my eye on it
I see my sweat hit the ground, I put my foot in the block
This is the race of my life, and I can't wait for this shot
'Cause I can feel the wind on my back (hey)
Chest is pumpin' like a heart attack (hey)
Feet are movin', and my mind is locked (hey)
Pressin' on with everything I got
I got my eye on it
I got my eye on it
I got my eye on it
Eye on it
Eye on the prize, I got my eye on it (eye on it)
I got my eye on the prize, I got my eye on it (eye on it)
I got my eye on the prize, I got my eye on it (eye on it)
I got my eye on it, and I will not quit
I got a new passenger to help me navigate the way
So when my heart hits the floor, I can recalibrate
I feel the deeper callin' me, all else is fadin' in the past
So, let me run in the race that I know is built, built to last
'Cause I can feel the wind at my back (at my back)
Chest is pumpin' like a heart attack (heart attack)
Feet are movin', and my mind is locked (mind is locked)
Pressin' on, I gotta take my shot
I got my eye on it
I got my eye on it
I got my eye on it
Eye on it
Eye on the prize, I got my eye on it (eye on it)
I got my eye on the prize, I got my eye on it (eye on it)
I got my eye on the prize, I got my eye on it (eye on it)
I got my eye on it, and I will not quit (eye, eye, eye)
Eye on it
I got my eye on it
I got my eye on it
I got my eye on the prize, I got my eye on it (eye on it)
I got my eye on prize, and I will not quit
I got to be honest with you, Louisiana
I may or may not have just been catching my breath back there
Hey, listen, I was working on a song about five years ago
You know, I made a demo of it
You know, demos don't always sound that good
At least mine don't, until I polish it up a bit
But I, I sent the demo out to a couple of people that I trust
You know, just to get a little feedback, see what they thought
So, uh, they didn't hit me for the first day or two
And finally, I hit them up, I'm like
"Hey, what'd you think of the song, man?"
You know it was like, man, that melody is nice
I knew I was in trouble already, uh
He was like the groove smooth, but man, it's the words
I mean, the heart of the song is really about
It's about being on stage, and not everyone can relate to that
Not everybody's on stage, so it might not resonate with the people
So, I took a deep breath, you know
Let the defensive spirit in me subside just a bit
And I was like, now, hold on, that's not the heart of that song at all
See, that song is really about anybody that's willing to give their lives
For something bigger than themselves
See, the way I wrote that song was about six or seven years ago
I was on this big tour, and we were the last act up
So, there was a microphone, my microphone
Would sit right here in the middle of the stage
And I would be standing at the top of those stairs on stage left
Waiting for them to announce my name
So I could walk across the stage to that microphone
And every night after, they said my name, I would take that 50 foot walk
And I would say the same thing night after night
I would say, God, tonight is Yours
Come take it, and do with it whatever You will
Won't You come and steal my show?
