אל הבקעה מן הגלעד
טלה שחור ורך ירד

ישוב טלה אל חיק האם
ישכב בדיר ויירדם
והכבשה תישק אותו
והיא תקרא אותו בשם

נסתר הליל בין הבתים
והנביא הגלעדי
יורד דומם אל הבקעה
לחזות בשנת הילדים

Evening at the Gilead

The trees are so heavy
The fruit is bending the branches
It is the relaxing hour
When children fall asleep

To the valley from the Gilead
A black and tender lamb has come down
A sheep cries and moans in the pen
This is her little son who was lost

The lamb has returned to the mother's embrace
