А для вас, дорогие мои люди... У меня есть еще одно стихотворение, в котором мне особенно нравится финал ...

Не дорого ценю я громкие права,
От коих не одна кружится голова.
Я не ропщу о том, что отказали боги
Мне в сладкой участи оспоривать налоги
Или мешать царям друг с другом воевать;
И мало горя мне, свободно ли печать
Морочит олухов, иль чуткая цензура
В журнальных замыслах стесняет балагура.
Все это, видите ль, снова, слова, слова*.
Иные, лучшие, мне дороги права;
Иная, лучшая, потребна мне свобода:
Зависеть от царя, зависеть от народа -
Не все ли нам равно? Бог с ними.
Никому
Отчета не давать, себе лишь самому
Служить и угождать, для власти, для ливреи
Не гнуть ни совести, ни помыслов, ни шеи;
По прихоти своей скитаться здесь и там,
Дивясь божественным природы красотам,
И пред созданьями искусств и вдохновенья
Трепеща радостно в восторгах умиленья.
- Вот счастье! вот права...

The Main Thing

And for you, my dear lady... I have another poem, in which I especially like the ending...

I don't value much the loud rights,
From which more than one head spins.
I do not grumble that the gods refused
Me in a sweet fate to challenge taxes
Or to interfere with the kings at war with each other;
And I have little grief, whether the press is free
Fooling fools, or sensitive censorship
In magazine plans constrains the joker.
All this, you see, again, words, words*.
Other, better, rights are dear to me;
Another, better, freedom I need:
To depend on the king, to depend on the people -
Is it all the same to us? God be with them.
To no one
To give no account, only to oneself
To serve and please, for power, for livery
Neither bend conscience, nor thoughts, nor neck;
Wander here and there at your own whim,
Admiring the divine beauties of nature,
And before the creations of arts and inspiration
Trembling joyfully in the delights of tenderness.
