Волчицы

Замела зима в тайге пути-дороженьки
- не проехать, не пройти, не пробежать
Можно только протянуть больные ноженьки и спать
Но не может спать в лесу волчица
серая - ей волчата спать всё время не дают
Они морды ей в живот свои голодные суют

А из лагеря холодного и дальнего, что меж сопок ощетинившись лежит
Вдаль пацанка молодая и отчаянная бежит
Пятый день как через чащу пробирается, при побеге где-то сломана рука
А зима всем этим только забавляется пока

Веселится рыжая луна, на-на-на, в чёрном небе одна

Голод резко снял волчицу с логова и погнал навстречу ветру по тайге
Но добычу не видать - не слышно шороха нигде
На поляну только в ночь волчица
выползла, "Человек!" и сразу встала дыбом шерсть
Ей в глаза в упор смотрела Жизнь решительно и Смерть

Веселится рыжая луна, на-на-на, в чёрном небе одна

И они внезапно носом к носу встретились,
чтобы жить придётся, видно, нужно убивать
И волчица и пацанка сразу кинулись, чтоб рвать
Бились молча,
страшно насмерть и отчаянно, отползая, чтоб чуть-чуть передохнуть
Пузырями кровь катилась тёмно-алая, как ртуть
Сосны чёрной тенью дружно
отодвинулись, вьюга билась меж деревьями винтом
Умирали человек и волк, раскинувшись листом

She-Wolves

Winter sweeps over footpaths in the taiga,
no way to pass, no way to walk, no way to run.
Can only stretch out my aching legs and sleep,
but a gray she-wolf can't sleep in the forest -
her cubs won't let her get any rest,
their hungry muzzles buried in her belly.

And from a bleak and distant camp, which bristles amidst pointed hills,
a young and desperate girl runs far away,
for five days she's been fighting through the bush, her arm broken somewhere during her escape.
Winter, for now, is just toying with all of this.

The red moon revels, na-na-na, alone in the black sky,

Hunger suddenly drives the she-wolf from her lair and sends her into the wind-blown taiga,
but there's no sign of prey - no rustle anywhere.
Only at night does the she-wolf crawl onto the clearing,
"A human!" and her fur stands on end,
her gaze meets the eyes of Life and Death, staring straight into her own.

The red moon revels, na-na-na, alone in the black sky,

And they met suddenly, nose to nose,
to live, it seems, one must kill,
and both the she-wolf and the girl rushed forward to tear into each other.
They fought in silence,
terribly, desperately, retreating to catch their breath,
dark-red blood bubbled up like mercury,
the shadows of black pines drew back in unison,
a snowstorm raged between the trees like a screw,
a human and a wolf lay dying, spread out like leaves.
