Isang Buhay

Sa bawat buhay ng tao'y mayro'ng pag-ibig na nakahimlay
At ang tanging dapat mo lang gawin, sa aki'y sumabay
Halika na't gisingin natin ang tulog mong diwa

Sa pagkakataong ito, hari aking opinyon

Minsan sa ating buhay, mayro'ng suliranin
At hindi mo matanto kung sasapat ka ba o kukulangin
Basta't mahalaga mayro'ng isang pag-ibig
Umaasang may gabay na nandiyan lang sa 'ting paligid dahil tayo'y may

Ako'y nabuhay sa mundong hindi inabot ang ama

One Life

Within every human life, there lies a love so deep,

I lived in a world where I never knew my father's embrace,
And relied on everything from my single mother's grace.
To hug her and say thanks, I wish I still could,
Without yearning for the inheritance I never understood.

But I lost my way, my horns grew long,
Every time she spoke to me, my eyes glazed and wrong.
The path I chose, different from ordinary youth,
A self-inflicted hell, harsher than the truth.

The peaceful and promised paradise above,
You can't reach it if all you have is a peso of love.
Forget anything you may cherish or hold dear,
If you have no money, true friends disappear.

My fate was harsh, is it the same for you?
My story and yours aren't so far apart, it's true.
Perhaps we've both experienced the same despair,

I visited friends to help them through,
To ease the loneliness in their prison cell, it's true.
That was my mission back then, if you only knew,
Among my fellow inmates, we saw it through.

To my companions who are free but bear a cost,
Living in secrecy, counted as remnants lost.
And a piece of paper crumpled and torn,
Is it their fault if anger suddenly is born?

And why is it that Muslims are labeled as bold,
While those from Capiz are witches, stories told?
If you're from Waray, you kill without remorse,
And if you're Filipino, a slave, of course.

I am Filipino, also among the deprived,
My question is, who is this God they describe?
Is He the one who walked with you in the dark alley's sway,
And guided you to the light, even when you couldn't see the way?
