Pero no encajaba bien con los malos
Que mandaban en el extrarradio
Siempre me vi rarito, me daba pena salir en clase
En la pizarra, cualquiera me hacía chiquito al burlarse

Para agradecer a la vida semejante regalo

Llevo ya 30 años dedicado a este sueño
Que empezó como empeño, ilusión, opción y anhelo
Y ese soy yo, resumiendo, desde que tengo razón
No intento engañar a nadie, sino escribir mi canción

I'm the son of Maria and Jesus: the one from Alcalá and the one from Algeciras
The younger of two
My older brother from August; I, from December 18th
I was always introverted, scared, lost in my thoughts
I liked poetry, flamenco and my mischief

I didn't have many friends, it wasn't because I was self-absorbed
It was that I was more attracted to what was inside
Than what was outside

Sometimes I'd play in the neighborhood, so as not to seem strange
But I didn't fit in well with the bad guys
Who ruled the outskirts
I always saw myself as odd, I was embarrassed to go up to the board in class
Anyone could make me small by mocking me

I wanted a guitar and rhythm
But at the desk in the sun with my classmate
I played at being the most boisterous one
Me, chubby, and him, skinny

At school I played the tough guy
Thinking that way they wouldn't beat me up anymore
But I got beat up on the street
And in my heart and on the landings

My father played in a band
My mother struggled at home
How many times did I see her crying because she was losing the battle?
And when her helplessness exploded
It pierced my soul
And my ribs with those silver screams

Don't misunderstand me, my mother was a lifesaver
And my father, even though he was absent, also fought for life

I didn't like football
I'd pretend to be the goalkeeper on my imaginary stage
I always won six-nil

We went through bad times
But we had the guts
To win a little piece of heaven from fear

Life noticed me and I began to dream big
After all, to keep on with the same, I already had a bloody lip
I didn't believe in miracles or that I could achieve it
Besides, there were already people throwing buckets of water on you

But I insisted in a way that still chills me today
I didn't want anything, but I searched for it swimmingly
I knew that music was what would pull me out of the mud
As if it were the ring that guy they call Frodo was looking for

And suddenly I saw myself going up on a stage
People I didn't know, singing my little songs
And I decided to give thanks, to always do what's in my power
To thank life for such a gift

I've been dedicated to this dream for 30 years now
Which began as a commitment, an illusion, an option and a yearning
And that's me, in short, since I've had the ability to reason
I'm not trying to fool anyone, but to write my song

In the midst of so much falsehood
You don't know how much I appreciate
The breath of truth that revolves
Around you I awaken

Now that everything is appearance
