Наверх, вы, товарищи, все по местам!
Последний парад наступает!
Врагу не сдаётся наш гордый Варяг,
Пощады никто не желает!
Все вымпелы вьются, и цепи гремят,
Наверх якоря подымают.
Готовые к бою орудия в ряд
На солнце зловеще сверкают.
От пристани верной мы в битву уйдем,
Навстречу грозящей нам смерти,
За Родину в море открытом умрём,
Где ждут желтолицые черти!
Свистит, и гремит, и грохочет кругом.
Гром пушек, шипение снарядов,
И стал наш бесстрашный и гордый Варяг
Подобен кромешному аду!
В предсмертных мученьях трепещут тела,
Гром пушек, и шум, и стенанья,
И судно охвачено морем огня, —
Настали минуты прощанья.
Прощайте, товарищи! С Богом, ура!
Кипящее море под нами!
Не думали, братцы, мы с вами вчера,
Что нынче умрем под волнами!
Не скажет ни камень, ни крест, где легли
Во славу мы русского флага,
Лишь волны морские прославят вдали
Геройскую гибель Варяга!

The Varyag

Comrades, to your stations up now!
The last parade is approaching!
Our proud Varyag will not surrender to the enemy,
Nobody desires mercy!
All pennants are flying, and chains are clanking,
Anchors are being raised up.
Cannons, ready for battle, line up in a row
And glitter menacingly in the sun.
We shall leave from the faithful harbour into battle,
To meet the death that threatens us,
We shall die for the Motherland in the open sea,
Where yellow-faced devils await!
It's whistling, and banging, and crashing all around.
The roar of cannons, the hissing of shells,
And our fearless and proud Varyag has become
Like a real hell!
Bodies shudder in their dying throes,
The roar of cannons, and the noise, and the moans,
And the ship is seized by a sea of fire, —
The time for farewells has come.
Farewell, comrades! With God, hurray!
The seething sea under us!
We didn't think, brothers, you and I yesterday,
That today we would die beneath the waves!
Neither stone nor cross will tell where we fell
To the glory of the Russian flag,
Only the sea waves will glorify afar
The heroic death of the Varyag!
