Я пришла сюда, бездельница,

На пригорке дремлет мельница.
Годы можно здесь молчать.

Над засохшей повиликою
Мягко плавает пчела;
У пруда русалку кликаю,
А русалка умерла.

Затянулся ржавой тиною
Пруд широкий, обмелел,
Над трепещущей осиною
Легкий месяц заблестел.

Замечаю все как новое.
Влажно пахнут тополя.
Я молчу. Молчу, готовая
Снова стать тобой, земля.

The Loafer

I came here, a loafer,
I don't care where to be bored!
On the hillock slumbers a mill.
Years could be spent here in silence.

Above the withered bindweed
A bee gently floats;
By the pond, I call for the mermaid,
But the mermaid is dead.

Covered in rusty mud,
The wide pond has grown shallow,
Above the trembling aspen,
The light moon has begun to shine.

I notice everything as if it were new.
The poplars smell damp.
I am silent. Silent, ready
To become you again, earth.
